Yankee Stadium Will Now Be Torn Down Next Fall
From the LoHud Yankees Blog:
We’re hearing that the old Stadium won’t be torn down until next fall. A movie will be filming there in the spring and summer, it seems. It’s going to be a while before fans get to purchase seats and other memorabilia.

Will the long delay reduce the value? I’m hardly a marketing guy, but it seems to me that the best time to sell that stuff would be now when the experience was fresh in people’s minds.
Talked to three scouts who watched games in Arizona who all said Phil Hughes was throwing 94-95 with ease. Now, we need to see that in spring training.
Looks like we’ll be seeing another year of the old Yankee Stadium. People were talking about the memorabilia they were going to buy instantly after the final game was played.
Looks like you might be waiting a long time. I heard about the movie “Keeper of the Pinstripes,” and that is the movie that will be filmed there. If you haven’t heard about the movie, this is what it’s about:
From Newsday:
Keeper of the Pinstripes, a movie based on the children’s book, The Boy of Steel: A Baseball Dream Come True, written by Yankees executive Ray Negron.
Darryl Strawberry and actor Josh Lucas also will be featured, and Robby Benson will direct the movie—which will be filmed inside the old Yankee Stadium before and during the 2009 season. Partly for that reason, the old Stadium will remain standing until September, with some minor dismantling over the summer.
While the movie is scheduled to be released some time between Christmas 2009 and Opening Day 2010
Hughes throwing 94-95 consistently on the radar gun? Wow. That’s good to hear. I know we heard about this before, but now scouts are saying it. We knew that he once threw at that speed, but for some reason he couldn’t do it at the big league level. Maybe the injuries set him back. Who knows? I’m just glad to hear it.
From rotoworld:
A source told the New York Daily News that the Mets and Cubs have expressed interest in free agent outfielder Bobby Abreu. Those have been the two most logical destinations for Abreu since the season ended. He is thought to be asking for a three-year deal.
