WWE Monday Night Raw SuperShow Preview: 5 Things to Expect on Tonight's Show
It's that time of the week again, and the biggest superstars in the WWE are set to grace our television screens tonight on the WWE Monday Night Raw SuperShow.
With a full Monday ahead of us, we're here to break down the five major things the WWE universe can expect out of tonight's event.
Tonight on the September 12th, 2011 edition of Raw, the WWE should be gearing up for Night of Champions this weekend.
Last week, Kevin Nash was "fired" by WWE COO Triple H after it was revealed that Nash sent the mysterious text to himself at SummerSlam, in what was an odd, and curious twist.
The title matches for Night of Champions have been set, but what other developments can we expect to see in the current storylines, and what sort of "SuperShow" action might we see? Check out our predictions in the following slides!
Zack Ryder Gets Even More Face Time on Raw
1 of 5Last week on Raw, Zack Ryder teamed up with Jerry "The King" Lawler to take on David Otunga and Michael McGillicutty, and getting the pin for his team.
Not only did Ryder get a quality introduction by Lawler, putting him over as a charismatic superstar, Ryder got a nice video segment that touched on his YouTube series, internet championship, and other highlights.
I doubt that WWE put that sort of effort into Ryder just for kicks, so keep an eye out for another Raw moment for Ryder tonight.
Woo woo woo...
John Laurinaitis Is Not an Innocent Bystander
2 of 5Last week on Raw, John Laurinaitis was seen stepping into a limo with Kevin Nash after he was fired, and the two weren't seen again that night.
WWE.com spoke with Johnny Ace, and he had the following to say:
"Kevin Nash is a friend of mine. We have a long history and I'm the one who hired him. I think the circumstances of Kevin's firing are unfortunate, but ultimately, I don’t make the rules around here. [WWE Chief Operating Officer] Triple H does. As far as the conversation in that limo, as the Executive Vice President of Talent Relations, I cannot disclose the nature of any private conversation with our talent in order to protect the integrity of the office.
I respect the hell out of Kevin and I wish him the best in his future endeavors.
"
It's not that simple, and we all know it.
Tonight, I expect to catch more little hints of Laurinaitis' disdain for Triple H, which should have major implications come Night of Champions.
The Feud Between Triple H and CM Punk Gets Heated
3 of 5The feud between CM Punk and Triple H has been a war of words, and although they are set to have a match at Night of Champions, they've managed to refrain from getting physical.
WWE.com had an interesting tidbit in their preview for tonight's show, with the headline "Can They Wait for Sunday?":
"Just six days before Night of Champions, what will transpire between CM Punk and WWE COO Triple H as they get ready for their explosive No Disqualification Match?
"
The headline says a lot more than the text that followed it.
If the WWE is hinting at Triple H and CM Punk getting into a scuffle to hype up their match this weekend, I say go for it, because I've grown tired of wife jokes, "skinny-fat" jokes, and everything in between.
Will Randy Orton Avoid Getting Steamrolled by Mark Henry Again?
4 of 5The headlining feud on SmackDown should be getting some play tonight on the Raw SuperShow, with WWE World Heavyweight Champion Randy Orton taking on the monster Mark Henry this Sunday at Night of Champions.
The past two SmackDowns have ended with Henry running through Orton, then standing over him to close the show. It's not made for a very compelling feud, in my opinion.
Tonight, these two should be squeezed in at some point, in a manner that would get fans tuning in to SmackDown to see what happens on Friday.
As for whether or not we'll see Orton steamrolled again, if it does happen, it will be on SmackDown, not on Raw.
The Feud Between John Cena and Albert Del Rio Comes to a Head
5 of 5The prediction I feel most confident in for tonight's show has to be that the WWE Championship feud between Alberto Del Rio and John Cena will be featured prominently.
Last week, Del Rio slithered his way around the backstage area, using his silver tongue to convince a variety of heel superstars to attack John Cena, which resulted in an eight-man tag team match.
Cena has voiced his opinion on Del Rio, making it clear that he has no respect for him as a champion, but there's not been a great deal of interaction between the two. That, of course, is due to Del Rio missing out on key dates due to visa issues.
WWE will definitely look to make up for lost time tonight, so expect to see Cena out in full effect.
