English Cricket : 2011 County Championship, Division 1, Round 15.
Warwickshire are top of the table with one game to go but Lancashire are in a close second after a dramatic late win, and Durham are still in contention.
Warwickshire lead the way on 226 points after 15 games as they beat last year's champions Nottinghamshire by an innings and 114 runs at Edgbaston.
Ian Westwood hit 171, Jim Troughton 151 and Rikki Clarke 126 as the home side piled on 574-7 declared.
Nottinghamshire slid from 133-1 to 238 all-out in reply, despite Alex Hales making 72 and Darren Bravo 70. Chris Woakes took 4-91 and Rikki Clarke 3-45.
Following on, Alex Hales carried his bat for 106 not out and despite some lower order support, Nottinghamshire were dismissed for 222.
Chris Wright claimed 5-74 and Boyd Rankin 3-63 to seal a comprehensive victory by an innings and 114 runs.
Nottinghamshire are fifth after 15 games on 168 points.
Lancashire are second on 223 points after 15 games as they won by 222 runs in the penultimate over in Liverpool.
The home side slipped to 125-5 but Glen Chapple (97), Tom Smith (63) and Kyle Hogg (51) dragged them up to 388. Sean Ervine claimed 3-66 and Dimitri Mascarenhas 2-76.
Ervine's 128 helped Hampshire to 381 as Gary Keedy took 5-93.
The best opening stand of the season of 168 from Paul Horton (96) and Stephen Moore (169 not out) enabled Lancashire to declared on 353-3 second time around.
Simon Kerrigan then terrorized the Hampshire batsman as he took a career-best 9-51 in Hampshire's total of 138.
But his final wicket, of Neil McKenzie, didn't come until the penultimate over as McKenzie (38 from 186 balls) and James Tomlinson (1 not out from 51 balls) had frustrated the home side for more than 20 overs.
Hampshire are bottom on 120 points after 15 games but could still avoid relegation.
Somerset are out of the title race in fourth place on 184 points as they lost by six wickets to Yorkshire at Headingley.
Somerset made 265 first time around as Alex Barrow hit 69 and Jos Buttler 52. Ryan Sidebottom's 4-61 the pick of the bowlers for the home side.
Yorkshire fell five runs short of what could be a crucial batting point as they were dismissed for 195. Adam Lyth top-scored with 52, while Alfonso Thomas claimed 5-66 and Steve Kirby 3-65.
Somerset collapsed to 46-5 before a mini-recovery saw them all out for just 132. Craig Maschede's 33 the highest score, while Sidebottom's 7-37 gave Yorkshire chance of victory.
Chasing 205 for victory, the White Rose county reached their target for the loss of four wickets. Jonny Bairstow's 53 not out helped see them home, while Murali Kartik picked up 2-44.
Yorkshire have completed all their matches and sit one place and one point above the relegation zone.
Sussex are safe in sixth place on 159 points after handing Worcestershire their tenth defeat of the season at Worcester.
Sussex made 375 in their first innings, Ben Brown hitting 71, Joe Gatting 70 and Murray Goodwin 60. Moeen Ali's 4-53 the pick of the bowlers.
Worcestershire folded from 189-5 to 222 all out despite Alexei Kervezee's 69. Monty Panesar (5-58) doing the damage.
The away side pressed on to make 267-4 declared in their second innings with Joe Gatting 116 not out. Alan Richardson claimed 3-77 while Kemar Roach went wicketless.
Chasing an unlikely 421 for victory, Worcestershire were bundled out for just 169. Daryl Mitchell made 61 but James Anyon's 4-55 secured a 251-run win for Sussex.
Worcestershire are one point and one place from safety but have one game remaining.
The final round of fixtures, September 12-15, sees Durham play Worcestershire, Hampshire against Warwickshire, Nottinghamshire host Sussex and Somerset face Lancashire.
If Warwickshire win they should win the Division as long as Lancashire don't have a higher points victory, if they draw they need Lancashire to fail to win and Durham not to win big. If they lose, they need Lancashire to lose and Durham not to win.
For the title, Lancashire need a higher scoring win than Warwickshire by three points, or to better Warwickshire's result. If Lancashire draw, they need Durham to fail to win.
Durham must win and hope Warwickshire and Lancashire both draw or lose. If Warwickshire draw they could still pip Durham depending on both sides batting and bowling points.
If Worcestershire win or draw they will survive, if they lose they have to pick up two points to go above Yorkshire and hope Hampshire don't win.
Hampshire must win and hope Worcestershire lose and don't pick up many points to survive.
