TNA No Surrender: Predicting the Winners
Tomorrow night the road to Bound for Glory continues with No Surrender. With eight matches, and the potential for a ninth, the pay-per-view looks very promising.
After months of matches, we will finally find out who will win the Bound for Glory Series as the final four battle it out to become the No.1 contender for the TNA World Heavyweight Championship. Out of the six titles in TNA, four of them are on the line tomorrow night in what should all be good matches.
Here’s the card for the show and whom I think will win.
Matt Morgan vs. Samoa Joe
1 of 10Ever since the Bound for Glory Series began, Samoa Joe has been on the losing streak of a lifetime. He hasn’t won a match since defeating D’Angelo Dinero in their feud five months ago.
Matt Morgan on the other hand was no doubt a favorite to win the BFGS and go onto be the next TNA World Heavyweight Champion. A legit injury unfortunately forced him to pull out of the tournament. Since then, Morgan accepted his fate and gave “insight” on commentary each week during BFGS matches.
Joe wasn’t so accepting of his fate, though, and became quite enraged. He managed to injure three other wrestlers enough to take them out of the series, including front-runner Crimson. Morgan became tired of Joe’s actions and decided to take matters into his own hands. That has led to this match.
This will be very physical and should be quite good. As much as I’d like to see Joe win this, he’s going nowhere in TNA right now. Morgan has nowhere to go but up and I think he’ll have the World Title sometime early next year.
Winner: Matt Morgan
Kid Kash vs. Jesse Sorensen: No.1 Contender’s Match
2 of 10During an X-Division gauntlet match, Kid Kash screwed Jesse Sorensen out of his opportunity at glory. Sorensen made it to the final two by defeating Kash, but Kash wasn’t going to take his defeat lying down. Kash took out the young star, which gave Austin Aries the chance to take the win.
Sorensen would get his revenge by defeating Kash one-on-one on an episode of Impact Wrestling. It looks like Kash will get a chance for revenge as he once again battles Sorensen, this time for a chance to become No.1 contender for the TNA X-Division Title.
Can Kid Kash defeat Sorensen and regain a title he hasn’t held since 2003? I don’t think so. It’s time for the younger stars to shine.
Winner: Jesse Sorensen
Mickie James vs. Winter: Knockout’s Title
3 of 10Winter managed to win the title at Hardcore Justice but lost it to Mickie James a few weeks later on Impact Wrestling. I’ve noticed something about TNA’s Knockout’s Champion’s after Madison Rayne: they barely show up to wrestle.
When Mickie was champion, she showed up on Thursdays to talk in the ring or on commentary. She barely wrestled. The few weeks that Winter was champion, she was only seen in backstage segments until her title defense. No matter who wins, I hope they take example from Madison and show up each Thursday to wrestle.
As for whom I think will win, it’s hard to say. There a lot of Knockout’s potentially in line for a title shot. If Mickie retains, we could see Angelina Love get a shot, but if Winter regains the title we could see Velvet Sky be next in line. Personally, I would love to see Velvet finally get a shot, but I don’t see Winter winning the title back.
Having TNA’s top Knockout in Mickie lose the title so soon would make her look weak.
Winner and Still Champion: Mickie James
Mexican America vs. Devon and D’Angelo Dinero: Tag Team Titles
4 of 10TNA’s tag division isn’t what it used to be. The company had plenty of teams in contention for the belts and there were no worries as to who would challenge the champions.
Nowadays the division is a bit week. Currently there are only two legit teams in the company in the champions and the British Invasion. The challengers for tomorrow night were recently feuding with each other. They are now a team with established mutual respect.
It’s good to see a new team formed, but I don’t totally agree with thrusting them into the title picture so quickly. Mexican America haven’t done much as champions since winning the belts so I’m glad to see they have something to do.
Mexican America make a decent team, but they are no Latin American Xchange. That doesn’t mean they will lose the titles, in fact I think they will be retaining here. It’s too soon to give a team that just formed the titles.
Winners and Still Champions: Mexican America
Brian Kendrick vs. Austin Aries: X-Division Title
5 of 10The X-Division seems to be back on track and this feud has been quite the good one.
First, you have the cool, calm, and collected Brian Kendrick. He helped get the X-Division back on track when he defeated Abyss for the title.
Then you have Austin Aries. He’s cool, egotistical and wins at all costs.
Their two personalities have been clashing even before Aries became the No.1 contender for the title. This past Thursday on Impact Wrestling, we saw a different side of Kendrick. Aries was putting him down and calling him a phony so Kendrick went on the attack. The usually very calm man that quoted the Buddha snapped.
Will that give him the edge over Aries? I don’t think so. This is the beginning of the era of Austin Aries.
Winner and New Champion: Austin Aries
Bully Ray vs. James Storm: BFGS Match
6 of 10With all the talk Bully Ray did about winning the Bound for Glory Series I wasn’t surprised at all to see him in the final four.
James Storm on the other hand surprised me. I would have never given him a chance to make it this far.
If Matt Morgan was never injured, Storm may have never made it. Since Storm may be someone added because of an injury to another, I doubt he’ll win this.
I’m giving this one to the bully.
Winner: Bully Ray
Gunner vs. Bobby Roode: BFGS Match
7 of 10Bobby Roode has been my pick since the beginning. I had my doubts since Roode was at the bottom of the pack for a while. He thankfully made his way to the top, though.
Gunner has been a huge surprise in the series, but the surprise won’t continue. With Gunner’s mission being to help Bully Ray win the series, he doesn’t stand a chance.
Roode will either straight up win this or Ray will cost Gunner the match to ensure his help. Either way, Bobby Roode will win this.
Winner: Bobby Roode
Bully Ray vs. Bobby Roode: BFGS Finals
8 of 10It was never fully explained how the final four, formally thought to be a fatal-four way match, was going to work. Now it seems like a four-man tournament.
With my pick being Bobby Roode, I’m kind of bias in my decision here. At the same time, I think logic shows that Roode will win, especially if does indeed make it to the finals, and Bully Ray is his opponent.
I think Gunner will cost Ray the match, thus setting up Bully Ray vs. Gunner and helping in the death of Immortal.
Winner and No. 1 Contender for World Title: Bobby Roode
Kurt Angle vs. Sting vs. Mr. Anderson: World Title
9 of 10It was weird seeing Kurt Angle join Immortal. His reasoning was kind of shotty. He joined the heel stable, which includes the Jarrett’s, because Dixie Carter lied to him about Karen having an affair with Jeff.
To get back at Dixie, he joined up with the people that screwed him in the first place. It doesn’t make sense to me.
Sting has been on a quest to get Dixie the company back and he’s almost there. All he had to do is win the title, defeat Ric Flair next week, then Hulk Hogan at Bound for Glory. Does he really need the title, though? No, he doesn’t.
As long as someone who’s not a member of Immortal has it, Sting doesn't need to worry.
That brings us to Mr. Anderson. Immortal screwed him and he wants revenge. What better way to do that then to take the title away from them?
Who will win this? Sting definitely won’t be. If he wins the title, then a match with Hogan at Bound for Glory is out of the question since he’d have to face the winner of the BFGS. I don’t think it’s Anderson’s time either. When it comes to Angle losing the title, I think it’ll be at Bound for Glory.
Winner and Still Champion: Kurt Angle
Conclusion
10 of 10Well that’s it. The results of this show will surely shape the foundation of Bound for Glory. Tomorrow night’s show should be a good one.
TNA PPVs this summer have been very good, though Hardcore Justice wasn’t as good Slammiversary and Destination X. TNA shouldn’t be disappointing with No Surrender.
Everything has been leading to TNA's Bound for Glory. If my predictions ring true, we'll see Kurt Angle vs. Bobby Roode in the main event. With Sting vs. Hulk Hogan penciled in for the show as well, Bound for Glory is going to be a must-see event.
First, though, we have to get through No Surrender. Tomorrow night, and the weeks leading up to it, should be must see television.
