TNA Impact Wrestling Preview: Kurt Angle vs. Mr. Anderson and Jeff Hardy Returns

Kyle SchadlerSep 8, 2011

The road to Bound for Glory continues as No Surrender approaches. At this Sunday’s pay-per-view the No.1 contender for the TNA World Title will be determined as the finals of the Bound for Glory Series come to an end.

Before we get to No Surrender, though, we have one more episode of Impact Wrestling. Here’s what TNA has confirmed for tonight.

The Final Four of the BFGS go Face-to-Face

Last week, the final four of the Bound for Glory Series had been determined. Those men are Bully Ray, Gunner, Bobby Roode and James Storm.

At No Surrender we’ll see Bully Ray vs. James Storm and Gunner vs. Bobby Roode as the four battle it out to become the No.1 contender for the TNA World Title. It's been a long road, and all four men have worked hard to get where they are now.

What will happen when these four go face-to-face tonight?

The British Invasion vs. Devon and D’Angelo Dinero: No. 1 Contender’s Match

Mexican America haven’t done much since winning the Tag Team Titles, so it’s about time we get some challengers to give them something to do.

The British Invasion are the only veteran team left in TNA. Beer Money are on the verge of singles careers, and the Motor City Machine Guns are no more, at least until Chris Sabin returns from injury next year.

To me, the Brits need to be the challengers to help give TNA’s once-great division a much-needed boost. At the same time, though, it may be good to see a newer team get a chance.

For months, Devon and the Pope have been at each other's throats over Devon’s children. Now that they’re joining forces, they could make for a great team.

Who will win the right to challenge Mexican America for the titles at No Surrender?

Eric Young vs. Robbie E: TNA Television Championship

Are my eyes mistaken? Is the TNA TV Title really being defended in a legit match? It’s about time.

I remember when A.J. Styles renamed the Global Title to the TV Title; he said that he’d defend it every time he was on television, much like they did in the glory days of the National Wrestling Alliance. Unfortunately he didn’t, but he was at least wrestling each week.

Once Eric Young won the title, it became a joke. He went to Hollywood in search of Scott Baio and “wrestled” him at a golf course. I would shake my head every time I would see EY run around Hollywood.

Last week, he showed up out of nowhere and gave Robbie E a title shot. With Robbie’s possible new association with Rob Terry, could we see a new TNA Television Champion? I sure hope so. The TV Title could become a legit mid-card title, but only if it’s taken off of Eric Young.

What’s Next for the Knockout’s Division?

Last week it was revealed that Karen Jarrett was the new Knockout Law, or Vice President of the Knockout’s Division as Eric Bischoff called it. She declared that she would make the Knockout’s ladies, gave ODB and Jackie contracts and made Traci Brooks her executive assistant.

Traci wanted the job, but a member of Immortal got it instead. Anyone surprised? I hope not. This should be very interesting, though. A non-wrestler being in charge of a group of wrestlers? What can go wrong?

Quite a bit actually. I can see Karen’s new position getting to her head and the Knockout’s will eventually rebel against her. Perhaps when Sting takes down Hulk Hogan and Immortal?

Sting vs. Ric Flair: The Beginning of the End

This doesn’t happen until next week, but I’d expect the two legends to go face-to-face tonight. This match is the beginning of the end to a very long storyline.

If Flair beats Sting, Sting must retire from professional wrestling, but if Sting defeats the Nature Boy, Flair will help Sting in his quest to get rid of Hulk Hogan.

What will happen between the two wrestling legends tonight?

Kurt Angle vs. Mr. Anderson: TNA World Heavyweight Championship

Mr. Anderson made his return to TNA to make the save as Immortal was beating down Sting. It was odd seeing Anderson help the Icon after hating his guts for so long. While they may not be friends, they are now allies in the fight against Hulk Hogan and Immortal.

Anderson will now get another shot at the World Title. This should be a good match as their matches in the past have been quite good.

Can Anderson regain the title he can’t seem to live without, or will Angle and the numbers game of Immortal prove too much for him?

 Jeff Hardy returns to TNA

Jeff Hardy is a man we have not seen since the disastrous event at March’s Victory Road PPV. Personally I never thought we’d ever see him back. As Bound for Glory approaches, I suppose TNA wanted a little more star power for the event.

The Network is giving Hardy an open mic to say whatever he wants. So the big question is what will he say?

Will he beg for forgiveness from the fans? Will he ask to rejoin Immortal? Or will he join Sting in taking down Immortal, a group that abandoned him in his time of need? No matter what he says, he has a lot to answer for.

TNA Impact Wrestling looks like it’ll be a great episode this week. We’ve got a lot happening with more likely to go down.

What I’m most interested in is the Jeff Hardy situation. I can’t wait to see what happens when he enters the ring.
