NBA Free Agency 2011: 4 Players the Chicago Bulls Should Target
It is no secret what the Chicago Bulls lacked last year.
Although the Bulls had the best record in the regular season and made it to the Eastern Conference finals, a lack of secondary scoring put too much pressure on Derrick Rose.
Bulls starting point guard Keith Bogans is a good fit for the defensive mindset of the team, but averaging only 4.4 points a game is not enough.
Here are four players the Bulls should target to add more offense to the team.
Jamal Crawford
1 of 4Jamal Crawford opened his career playing for the Bulls back in 2000.
After four seasons with the team, he spent time in New York, Golden State and Atlanta where he picked up the Sixth Man of the Year award in 2010.
Crawford is a guy who can create his own shot, shoot from the perimeter or drive to the hoop and can play both the point and shooting guard positions.
Crawford has been known to be inconsistent at times and might not provide the same defensive presence that Bogans has, but he would be a step up on the offensive end.
Shannon Brown
2 of 4Shannon Brown has been one of the premier bench players for the Lakers over the past two-and-a-half years. Now that he has chosen to test the waters of free agency, Chicago may be calling his name.
Brown is originally from Illinois and would instantly get more playing time as well as a starting role on the team.
Although he averaged around eight points last season, he has shown to be a great scorer at times and could run transitions with Derrick Rose better than just about anybody the Bulls have now.
Brown brings athleticism, two championship rings and potential with him.
Jason Richardson
3 of 4Two-time Slam Dunk Champion Jason Richardson could bring leadership and experience to the Bulls. He would also bring his career average of 18 points and five rebounds per game to the team.
Richardson would be a big improvement at shooting guard.
If he is willing to possibly take less money to play for a title contender, then this is a move the Bulls might want to think about.
Arron Afflalo
4 of 4Although any deal for Arron Afflalo may be matched by Denver, he is still a guy the Bulls should go after. He fits the Bulls' defensive mode, he is a decent shooter and he can create his own shot.
Afflalo averaged 12.6 points last year and doesn’t come with baggage like O.J. Mayo or J.R. Smith.
He could be the one guy flying under the radar.
