Real Madrid and Barcelona Are Far Too Dominant in La Liga
It is an issue that has been brought up, time and time again, by football media around the world, yet there is still no solution to the uncompetitive nature of La Liga.
Each consecutive year rolls by and the gap between both Real Madrid and Barcelona and the rest of the league only gets bigger. Rather than fighting it out for first place, the other 18 teams in the league are essentially playing for third place in the table.
When you think about it, the gap may never again be bridged between these top two and "the rest," especially considering that Barcelona and Madrid's respective youth academies now attract the best young talent from around the world.

As well as this, both clubs are strung up with cash, not only from their owners but also the revenue from merchandise and ticketing. In essence, both Real Madrid and Barcelona have set up a framework which will seemingly guarantee them success in the years to come.
One interesting solution to combat the uncompetitive nature of the league, which is bound to outrage most Barcelona and Madrid fans, has been proposed.
What is that solution?
To take both Real Madrid and Barcelona out of La Liga.
Yes, that is right. Remove the two biggest clubs in Spain from the Spanish league.
Former Real Madrid general director Jorge Valdano was the first to make such comments, saying:
""In the future Madrid and Barcelona will be forced to look elsewhere for clubs that develop at the same speed. That will eventually move to a European league.
"The gap between the big two and the rest is only getting bigger in the next few years. You can't help but feel that it will only get worse over time."
"
I, for one, do not understand the concept of the "European League" that is being suggested. Don't we already have the Champions League?
To expect such teams to play outside of their domestic league would in itself suggest that both clubs are no longer Spanish clubs, but international clubs, with a sole purpose of achieving football domination? The idea removes any sense of history, passion or love for the game.
Indeed, something needs to be done about the lack of competition for the top spot in Spain.
Clubs closest to closing the gap, like Villarreal, Valencia and Sevilla need to lead by adopting new playing styles that better suit Barcelona and Real Madrid's play.
One thing is for certain, though. Fans will begin to lose interest in Spain's top flight if, week after week, it is a competition to see who out of Madrid or Barca can score the most goals, or drop the least points.
