Wesley Sneijder Says a Manchester United Move "Was Pretty Close"
The transfer window is well and truly shut, and with the close come all the statements about moves that could have happened, but didn't.
The first of the people to reminisce about a possible move is none other than Inter Milan attacking midfielder and Manchester United target Wesley Sneijder.
According to Goal.com, the Dutch pass master reflected on what was a very indecisive time.

"There was definitely interest," Sneijder said. "For a while, I had a feeling that a transfer [to Manchester United] was pretty close. We discussed it a number of times, but the move eventually didn't go ahead."
There was no doubt that the rumours about Sneijder's possible transfer dominated headlines right until the last day. Actually, it was rumoured only yesterday that Sneijder was on an airplane bound for Manchester to complete a medical and sign off on a contract.
Sneijder also reaffirmed his happiness at Inter, saying, "Manchester are one of the biggest clubs in the world, so of course I was open to a move. Nevertheless, a transfer was not a must for me. I'm happy to stay at Inter and I'm feeling very well in Italy."
The Italian Serie A has still not kicked off due to players striking and Euro qualifiers taking place. However, Sneijder will still get the chance to apply his attacking trade representing the Netherlands in their clash against San Marino and Finland within the week.
