The NCAA 10: Updated BCS and Heisman Rankings
A fairly predictable week of College Football leaves many rankings untouched, including my own. That will change this week when Texas Tech goes to Norman to battle Oklahoma.
My rankings are not how I predicted they would end up, nor are they how I think they might finish, but rather where I see them now, through games of November 15, 2008:
Rk | BCS | U/D | School | W | L | Notes |
1 | 2 | - | Texas Tech | 10 | 0 | Huge game at Oklahoma. Can Graham Harrell & Michael Crabtree do it again? |
2 | 1 | - | Alabama | 11 | 0 | Nick Saban is earning that massive paycheck…so far. |
3 | 4 | - | Florida | 9 | 1 | This is the team no one wants to see come bowl time. |
4 | 6 | - | USC | 9 | 1 | This still looks like one of the most dominant D’s in history. |
5 | 3 | - | Texas | 10 | 1 | Could they still sneak in? Sitting pretty at No. 3 in BCS. |
6 | 5 | - | Oklahoma | 9 | 1 | TTech at OU: winner, BCS? Loser: Cotton Bowl? |
7 | 7 | - | Utah | 11 | 0 | Only BYU stands in way of Kyle Whittingham’s resume builder. |
8 | 9 | - | Boise State | 10 | 0 | Will there be two BCS busters? Or a need to root for Ute loss? |
9 | 8 | - | Penn State | 10 | 1 | Could Spartans shock them? I think they just might. |
10 | 10 | Up | Ohio State | 9 | 2 | 30-20 win at Illinois gets them in. BCS bowl in their future? |
Out: Georgia (9-2) Won tight one, 17-13 @ Auburn.
What goes in to selecting a Heisman winner? There are so many variables. Look here for my list of them.
My Heisman rankings are not necessarily who I think is the most talented or who has the most NFL potential (Texas Tech's Michael Crabtree would probably get the nod if that were the case). Rather, it is where I see the Heisman race as it stands now, based on how I think the vote would go.
Rk | U/D | Player | School, Pos. | Notes |
1 | - | Graham Harrell | Texas Tech, QB | 4077 yds, 36 TD, 5 Int |
2 | - | Colt McCoy | Texas, QB | 3134 yds, 30 TD, 7 Int |
