NFL Has an Abundance of Coaching Vacancy,
With a tough economy, and job market even worse, there is good news on the horizon. Bide your time and prepare your resumes, because in January there will be an influx of jobs flooding the market. Most notably, in the NFL, where coaches week by week seem to be losing the respect and paychecks of their owners.
Poster boy, whether it's for GQ or "NFL coaches fired weekly," Mike Nolan was the sad product of a system he created. Being a defensive "genius" won't help you without the personnel to run it, and running an offense with a running back, wide receiver, and three quarterbacks who can't run or don't know the offense won't either. Not that it's all his fault. This is what he was given to make a team with. He didn't get the job done, and no Armani suit is going to change that.

Projecting Every NFL Team's Starting Lineup 🔮

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
In St. Louis, Scott Linehan had all the pieces to make a contender. All except, organization, team work, and respect for the coaching staff. By all accounts, the Rams offense was one to contend with coming into the season, but chemistry issues mostly led to a terrible start that seemed impossible to come back from.
The defense did them no favors and the strong side of the ball was no where to be seen. Enter Jim Haslett, the motivator, the offensive guru, the protector of all things St. Louis (for now), aside from the St. Lunatics and Nelly. A fresh perspective, a strong will, and a disciplinarian is what was needed to make them a better team. They aren't much better, but they will survive.
The Raiders are an especially more disturbing beast. I cringe even thinking about them. An owner that can only get out of his wheel chair to rip the heart out of the chest of any Raiders fan or coach for that matter, and gives one a new found disdain for the elderly.
He isn't wise beyond his years, he is old beyond his years while the team was spiralling toward an unimaginable outcome. Could this really be better? Firing Lane Kiffin was for all purposes probably smart, because the man did look overmatched in every effort in his tenor, but Kiffin, like Mike Shanahan before him, was fired and told he would not be paid the remainder of his salary, though it was in his contract.
Ultimately Kiffin will get paid, just as Shanahan did. Al Davis, at his advanced age, does not understand the way the world works. You can not stiff your employees and hope no one notices. Also, to add extra insult, Shanahan stops through once a year with his Denver team to drop beat down after beat down.
These are teams you may find yourself applying for in January (not at all depending on experience). All of the aforementioned teams, the Lions, the Bengals, the Chiefs (forced retirement), the Cowboys, and the Chargers are up for grabs. Poor Norv Turner, always a bridesmaid, never a bride.
