Jets-Rams: I'd Rather Get Beat Up in an Alley- Whuppin'
As in, “if you don’t stop talking trash, I’m going to give you an ass whuppin!”
The Jets blew out a team that they were supposed to beat. Finally. A blowout. Big Time.
The Rams looked God-awful sure, but the Jets were unstoppable all over the football field. Our defense is less Gang Green and more like a military road block in Iraq. As good as our offense was (Thomas Jones is a human bowling ball) I think it was our defense that led to such a gaudy score. 47-3.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
I really think the Jet’s D scared the Rams so badly that at times they were doing their best to just get off the field as quickly as possible. Steven Jackson’s absence left the Rams in a practically hopeless situation. They were going to have to throw the ball against a defense that knew what was coming.
So we blitzed, and intercepted, and stripped the Rams into submission. It seemed like the Jets spent all of last week working on forcing fumbles. On every tackle there was a hand punching at the ball. Marc Bulger, Trent Green: it didn’t matter on Sunday. The Jets looked great and the Rams looked like crap.
Brett Favre threw no interceptions this week (cue applause). There were some questionable throws, but anytime your team puts up 47 points, you can’t question the QB.
You can question the coach, however. Why on earth was Favre in the game as long as he was? What was an incredible day for the Jets could quickly have become the most disastrous ever. Mangini kept his 39-year-old quarterback in the game for what was essentially mop up duty. A bad fall, a big hit- fate could have dealt the Jets a serious blow yet Favre continued to play. Why take the chance?
I don’t know if you caught some of the pregame coverage but it was all about “Who’s the best quarterback in the AFC East?” I find it laughable, all this love for Chad Pennington all of a sudden.
For the past three years it’s been only Jets fans behind him while the media loved to point out his inadequacies. Now that we’ve got Favre the vultures are trying to imply the Jets were better off not making the trade. This is false false false. It’s so false it’s got synonyms. Like bulls#%it.
I’m going to go into detail on this topic just this once, and I shouldn’t even have to do that. Yes, Miami looks much better than they did last year and yes, it is good to see Pennington winning some games and not looking like the Duck Hunter he has in the past.
There are some facts which Fox, CBS, ESPN, Packers fans, Bob Glauber, and those idiots down in South Florida need to remember when they start throwing the “With Pennington, the Jets would be 8-1″nonsense around.
- 1-The WildCat offense is being used because Pennington has a weak arm.
- 2-For all the points and highlights, Pennington is often just a mouthpiece in the huddle. He calls the plays and takes only half of the snaps. Ronnie Brown is the featured player in that offense. Every other play they call is geared to get him the ball even if it’s just setting up another play later in the game.
- 3-Pennington was 1-7 last year. At this point, despite having to learn the offense with game time training, Favre is 6-3. Ummm… wow that should be the bottom line.
- 4-Except THIS is the bottom line: When was the last time you saw Pennington put up 47 points, EVER? That’s not even Favre’s highest score this season. He dropped 56 on Arizona a few weeks back. With Pennington you have someone managing field position. Favre delivers an offense. Do you think Thomas Jones would be running all over teams with Pennington in the backfield? Hell no. Favre forces teams to defend the whole field opening up the running game. If you want to have a dynamic offense with Pennington under center you need to run a system based on trickery, like the Wild Cat. Which brings us back to No. 1.
Not even a contest. Kellen Clemens outplayed Pennington last season with the same patchwork offensive line. I’m glad Chad’s winning. It’ll help him get a job playing somewhere outside of the division when the transitory stage in Miami is over. Enough.
The Patriots loom large this week. I can’t help but think they were looming during Sunday’s game. Perhaps the Patsies provided motivation to send a 44-point message. I hope Matt Cassel and Teddi Bruschi don’t sleep so well this week knowing Kris Jenkins and Brett Favre are rolling in to town. More on this at another juncture. There was a blowout yesterday, and I’m going to enjoy it.
