Denver Broncos: Postseason or Golf Game?

Raider Card AddictNov 9, 2008

Before reading this any further, ask yourself a question. Are you an open-minded person who reads everything equally or someone who thinks Denver will win out, and go to the post-season 12-4?

If you're open-minded, go ahead and read on. If you think Cutler can walk on water, this probably isn't for you.

Denver started their season off well, winning three straight. They took apart Oakland, got a gift from Ed Hochuli, and then held off a Saints team at home.

Then, Kansas City hit the alarm button shaking the tree.

Denver proceeded to go 1-3, and back to earth at 4-4. Last week's win in Cleveland helped keep them in first place, but in all, it also revealed many of this team's problems.

First of all, injuries are piling up. Ryan Torain, rumored to be their running back of the future, lasted all of one game, before being shelved with a knee injury along with other players. There's a total of nine players on the IR, and another nine with various injuries. Some, like Champ Bailey, are almost healed up, while others could start next week against Atlanta.

But the question remains, is Denver set to go to the post season or are they looking at a tee-time slot?

Well, at the first glance, their remaining games aren't that hopeful. They have Atlanta on the road, the Raiders at home, the Jets on the road, Kansas City at home, Carolina on the road, Buffalo at home, and finish with San Diego on the road.

It seems they can count on wins with the Raiders, Kansas City (barring a miracle), and Buffalo. However, if those are the only three Denver wins, that last game against San Diego might lock them out.

After all, this was the team that by all purposes, was robbed of a win in Week Two....and I can imagine no one will forget it.

Add in the fact that the Cutler of in his first three weeks has looked nothing like the Cutler in the five-game stretch. If anything, you might wonder if his comment about having a stronger arm than John Elway was both immature and premature.

Either way, 8-8?

San Diego, on the other side, is at 4-5 and has the following games to play.

Pittsburgh, Indy, Atlanta, Oakland, Kansas City, Tampa Bay, and again, Denver.

Once again, Oakland, and KC should be easy. They host Atlanta, who's turning into the surprise club on the schedule. Indy or Pittsburgh, depending on which team is wanting it more....you could see both Denver and San Diego at 7-8, going into that last week.

One team goes in as an 8-8 division winner.

The other team goes to the offseason couch.
