Joe's Take On TNA's Main Event Mafia
This time, TNA finally got it right, from my standpoint. They finally have given the fans a good storyline. And not only that, but they are getting both the veterans and the young guys the spotlight for once.
It used to be that TNA was only concerned at the getting the veterans on TV, and then if they had time, they could get the young guys on in a squash match or dark match later on. Sometimes the young guys—like Consequences Creed—would get on before they started taping and he would just warm up the crowd.
You didn't see him very often, and when you did, you wanted to see more, but TNA would never give it. They finally got Creed more involved in matches with the veterans, like Booker T, and then realized that, hey, we got great ratings in that match. Let's do that more often.
And now they have done it by getting some of the best who ever stepped into the ring together. Guys like Booker T, Kevin Nash, Kurt Angle, Scott Steiner, and, of course, Sting. And they have this attitude that kind says that they know they are good and you can't stop them.
They are supposed the be the heels in the feud, but it seems when they step into the ring, the fans like them, even Kevin Nash, who dogged them a few weeks ago and said the TNA fans were stupid. And he then went on to say he could say that because he was Kevin Nash.
And yet they cheer for him. I do think the TNA fans have to be stupid to not boo a guy like that. They even cheer for true heels like Angle and Booker T, just because they are in the group.
And the fans also cheer for the young guys, so how do you decide as the TNA creative team, which to put over in each match. You might get the wrong reaction by the fans. You want guys like Samoa Joe and A.J. Styles to be the faces and all the Main Event Mafia to be the heels.
But the fans cheer for both, so it's kind of a problem if you're the TNA creative team or writers for TNA. That is the only problem I see for TNA here though.
Since they are having this so-called war against the vets and TNA originals, both the young TNA originals are getting the spotlight along with the vets. And that is good for TNA, only because they have been missing that as I said before.
See, having a TNA veteran like A.J. Styles against a wrestling veteran Sting makes you want to watch because you like and respect both of them. Having a Scott Steiner against Sting match is good, but where is the point there, we have seen that many times before.
Having these young guys that we have never seen before TNA against the guys we have seen for a long time makes you want to watch, for the simple fact of it being new to you. Every time you watch the WWE, you see feuds you have not seen before.
If you do see them again, there is always a big stipulation involved or another match like a steel cage or ladder match. TNA has missed that for a long period of time, and now they are figuring it out.
I can see why TNA did it though. I mean, your a new company that is trying to attract fans to a show and make money to put your company on top. And the way to do that is to get people in the matches that fans want to see—guys like Sting, Booker T, or Kurt Angle. They have been successful in other companies. But now, people watching TNA wants to see the new talent that TNA has that no other company does, like the X-Division.
Even the WWE recognized that their cruiserweights couldn't compete with TNA's X-Division. Now they are getting it with the young guys and the veterans together. This will be mark my words the thing that puts TNA in the same breath with the WWE.
We might have to wait for it, but I believe that TNA is geting better. Heck, even this week's Impact was one of the best I have seen in some time. Main Event Mafia versus the TNA Originals...TNA's finally got it.
But what do you think, will this be TNA's coming-out party?
