Fantasy Football Game of the Week: Week 10

Ryan HallamNov 6, 2008

This week’s offensive show will once again feature the New Orleans Saints, and this time it is when they travel to Atlanta and face Matt Ryan and the Falcons. Atlanta sits at 5-3, while the Saints are 4-4. But more importantly, there are a number of important fantasy players who will have an impact on your matchups.

The recipe for success for Michael Turner this season has been games against poor running defenses. Against teams such as Tampa, Carolina, and Philly, Turner topped out at 58 yards. Against Detroit, Kansas City, and Oakland, Turner’s yardage ranged from 104 to 220 yards.

The Saints are not quite on that level, but they do allow nearly 105 yards per game on the ground and will most likely have a hard time with Turner. Look for 125-150 yards and a minimum of one score for "The Burner."

Rookie Matt Ryan has surpassed expectations by a mile in his rookie year and looks to keep his path towards the Rookie of the Year on track against the Saints. Although the Saints run defense isn’t horrible, the pass defense is among the worst in the league and have allowed 12 touchdowns through the air. Ryan has thrown two touchdowns in back-to-back games, and look for him to make it three straight against the Saints.

His favorite target has clearly been Roddy White—for good reason—who has caught 48 passes and five scores already. However, Michael Jenkins has started to get some more looks and is starting to get himself on the fantasy radar. Jenkins had only two catches last week, but they were both for touchdowns.

Drew Brees is leading the NFL in yards and has thrown 15 touchdowns, with a rating of over 100. Why would you think that this week would be any different for Brees? He will throw for over 300 yards against Atlanta and a minimum of two scores.

Marques Colston has really struggled since returning from his thumb injury, with just two catches in two games. This simply can’t last. Look for Colston to be Brees’ favorite target this Sunday, and he will catch six to eight balls for over 100 yards and a score.

Devery Henderson is good for a long catch or two, and Lance Moore looks to continue his place in the Saints' offense now that everyone is healthy. Reggie Bush has not been ruled out of the game yet, but you can expect that to happen within the next 48 hours. Bush will almost certainly make his return next week against the Chiefs (read: great matchup).

Deuce McAllister should carry the load again, even as he waits to hear about his pending suspension. That won’t come before this week’s game, so don’t worry about that. He had a pretty decent game last week, with 68 and a score, and you can expect that kind of production again this Sunday.

Buckle yourself in for this one, as there should be plenty of points on the scoreboard and on your fantasy team if you own any of these guys. Look for both teams to break the 24-point barrier and the outcome of this game could make or break your week.
