My Top Moments in Formula One in 2008
Hi Guys,
I realise I have not written for a while now, but I was asked by Rory to compile my top moments from this year's F1 calendar. You can also vote for your favourite as well!
It been a years of ups and downs. I daresay most of you are thinking I might write about FIArri incidents. I'm deciding to keep those out of this...
22 Drivers, 16 Retirements
I found this one amazing, due to the fact that only six drivers actually made it across the line. A really rare occurrence! Nine accidents and three engine retirements to name a few. Can't say this is a brilliant moment, apart from the sheer number of accidents!
Sebastian Vettel's Winning Weekend
I wrote a while ago about how "The Rookies are Coming Through," and I think it definitely shows here! Not many of us could of predicted this. However, being a McLaren fan, I still stood and clapped when Sebastian took his trophy. It was a well-deserved win.
6.5 second Win
Singapore seemed to be one of these tracks that would be a keeper. The night setting gave us some truly exciting racing. Alonso had pitted as normal when one lap later, Piquet hit the wall bringing out the safety car. This secured Alonso's win. A stroke of luck, I think!
Ferrari attempt 100m Sprint Record
OK! It had to come here, for the pure amusement it created! Ferrari were quick afterwards to ban all hope of the traffic lights ever working. Evidently, they did not want a repeat of this moment!
Raikkonen almost wins!
Two laps of pure racing. It all ended in Raikkonen spinning and losing the pole position. Hamilton went through, but was penalised for an earlier maneuver that cost him his podium, leaving Massa to be victorious.
Massa's Wet Weekend
Poor Massa. He spun five times at Silverstone. As a McLaren fan, we watched in awe as he spun five times. My heart does actually go out to him, seeing as it was a little embarrassing. Although, he showed his stuff at Brazil this weekend.
WHAM BAM, Thank you HAM
Yep, Canada. Hamilton rammed the back of Raikkonen. Quite a spectacle as I remember. But the guys got out of the car, shook hands and no hard feelings were felt. On another note, Kubica won his first race as a result!
2.30s of sheer terror
What can I say? Brazil, the finest weekend of racing I have seen in a long time. If F1 was like WWE, and it was all planned... It could of have been better.
Highlight though was seeing the Ferrari guys cheering, and then seeing their faces drop. Again, I'm sorry to Massa, as they both wanted the championship as much as each other.
