Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Josh Freeman and Three Bucs Destined for 2012 Pro Bowl
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers had a total of zero starters par-take in the 2011 NFL Pro Bowl. This year their luck will change—led by quarterback Josh Freeman and two other offensive standout players.
From a 3-13 season in 2009 to a 10-6 record in 2010, the Buccaneers will be no easy out in 2011; led by these three players who should punch their first tickets to Hawaii by season's end.
3. LaGarrette Blount
1 of 3LaGarrette Blount was easily the biggest steal of the 2011 NFL Draft, in fact he went un-drafted and was picked up by the Tennessee Titans, only too be cut.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers gambled on Blount, and it paid off— in a big way.
Blount managed to have amass the 1,000 yard mark during his rookie year, despite only being given 10 total carries through the first six games. Blount became a human highlight reel the rest of the season, gaining five yards per carry while showing that a 250-pound back can still physically jump over opposing defenders.
LaGarrette Blount is the longest shot of these three players to make the 2012 Pro Bowl, but he will be given the carries from game one, and with a strong passing game and a strong offensive line—running lanes will be there and a 1,300-yard season is not out of the question.
2. Mike Williams
2 of 3Despite being taken in the fourth round of the 2010 NFL Draft, Mike Williams was a first round talent as he proved during his rookie season where he notched 65 receptions for 964 yards while grabbing 11 touchdowns.
No one benefits more from Josh Freeman than Mike Williams, and the two look to be one of the most promising young quarterback/receiver combinations in the league.
Beating out Miles Austin or Calvin Johnson seems in the realm of possibilities, with only Roddy White and Larry Fitzgerald appearing to be Pro Bowl locks.
Calvin Johnson had 1,120 yards receiving with 12 touchdowns and Miles Austin barley cracked the 1,000 yard mark and only caught seven touchdown passes so Mike Williams can out perform either of these two in 2012.
1. Josh Freeman
3 of 3In just his second season in the NFL, quarterback Josh Freeman threw for 3,451 yards with 25 touchdown passes and only six interceptions while chipping in 364 yards on the ground.
Josh Freeman will have more experienced weapons to work with through the air, with second year star wide-out Mike Williams and a healthy Arrelious Benn, those numbers should improve.
Also working in Josh Freeman's favor will be a legit running game led by second year back LaGarrette Blount.
With the running game rolling and more experienced receivers, Josh Freeman will light up the stat sheets in 2012.
If Josh Freeman can out-perform either Matt Ryan, Michael Vick or Drew Brees, he will make it to his first of many Pro Bowls.
