NBA Draft 2011-First Round, Future Stats,Comparisons and Cavs 1st Pick Selection

Jed PJun 1, 2011

The 2011 NBA draft is weeks away, and the lottery results are in. In this mock draft you will see predicted stats, NBA comparisons and more.

As the NBA draft draws near, many questions will surface about many of the prospects in the 2011 draft class. Who will be the first pick? Will he exceed to his expectations? How he will fit in the NBA?. These questions will begin to be answered June 23, 2011, in Prudential Center, New Jersey.

30. Shelvin Mack to the Chicago Bulls

1 of 30

Shelvin Mack. The Butlers' star who led them to the championships. He has a outstanding NBA IQ and has a excellent method of defense. He is also always very composed, on balance and never seems to rush things. He has a good shot selection and makes the defensive side tired and off balance.

His size is an issue, and lack of extraordinary talents makes him far away from the first half of the first round; many analysts even consider him a second-round pick.

NBA Comparison- Ben Gordon

Projected Statistics- 1.8 PPG, 2.3 RPG, 1.4 APG, 0.6 SPG

29. The San Antonio Spurs Select Jeremy Tyler

2 of 30

Jeremy Tyler is an up-and-coming power forward who recently played for the Maccabi Haifa. Tyler, originally was committed to Louisville but decided to go to Israeli leagues. Tyler, has a tremendous size and is a good defender though it is likely for him to play overseas, though just like Brandon Jennings, there is always a chance for him to play in the NBA.

NBA Comparison- N/A

Projected Stats- N/A

28. The Chicago Bulls Select JaJuan Johnson

3 of 30

A lean, athletic forward who thrives in the open floor. Johnson is a tall, long, shot blocker who has a ton of potential.  He also has a force defensively using his 7-foot plus wingspan to register over two blocks per game.

Though Johnson has a low tone body. He is skinny, unbuilt and doesn't have significant strength.  This limits his rebounding abilities. He is also not very aggressive on the court despite his two blocks per game.

NBA Comparison- Charlie Villanueva

Projected NBA statistics- 2.6 PPG, 2.1 RPG, 1.4 BPG

27. Nets Select Lucas Nogueira

4 of 30

Brazilian big-man Lucas Nogueira is a tall unstoppable center. Nogueira is currently 7-feet tall, with a 7'6" wingspan, yet he is only 18. At this stage, his physical talents themselves are mainly some crazy blocked shots, rebounds and dunks from offensive rebounds, cutting to open spaces and running the floor.

Despite his talents and potential, Nogueira still needs some work on his offensive skills and developing into an NBA player.

NBA Comparison- Worse version of Marcus Camby

Projected Stats- 3.8 PPG, 5.1 RPG, 0.8 BPG (At prime)

26. Dallas Mavericks Select Kyle Singler

5 of 30

Kyle Singler, who is 23, recently finished his last year in college for the Duke Blue Devils. Singler is a decent small forward but lost some of his respect after being a role player with Kyrie Irving and Nolan Smith talents ascending.

Singler averaged 17 points and seven rebounds per game last year, makes him a solid player for him to be selected as the 26th pick in the 2011 NBA draft

NBA Comparison- Matt Barnes

NBA Projected stats-  3.1 PPG, 3.1 RPG, 1 SPG, 0.8 3PG

25. Jordan Williams Selected by the Celtics

6 of 30

A true sleeper. He is a great athlete with a massive physical strength. A big man who can be part of the replacement for Kendrick Perkins.  He has dramatically improved his conditioning since he arrived on campus, but work remains to be done.

Expect him to be a decent power forward, who can take risks and is not scared of playing the real game.

NBA Comparison- Better version of Sean May

Projected Stats- 3.9 PPG, 4.4 RPG

24. Thunder Selects Josh Selby

7 of 30

Josh Selby is a perfect fit in Oklahoma City, he's a great addition for depth behing Westbrook and is an arguably undervalued point/shooting guard. He can handle, pass and shoot the ball with great athleticism.

His skills seem a little bit more geared towards playing off guard, which is troubling considering his size, although he does seem to have the speed, athleticism and lateral quickness to guard the point.

NBA Comparison- Jared Bayless

Projected Stats- 1.8 PPG, 3.8 APG, 2.0 RPG

23. Houston Rockets Select Reggie Jackson

8 of 30

Reggie Jackson. A great defender, terrible shooter, great height, he has terrific athleticism, capable of throwing down earth-shattering dunks.

He has a slow shot, in-fact a terrible shot. He will not make it on a high NBA level if he doesn't improve his shot.

NBA Comparison- Jeff Teague

Projected Stats- 2.1 PPG, 5.1 APG

22. Chris Singleton to Denver

9 of 30

He is a great three-point shooter, has a good size for position and is a threat on the court due to his athleticism. In other words, he is a multi-positional forward. Has all the tools to be a big time recruit. Has size and perimeter game, though shot needs consistency.

Though, he is a true sore loser and fouls a lot in the game and needs to keep his focus on the game.

NBA Comparison- Luc Richard Mbah a Moute

Projected Stats- 4.1 PPG, 3.2 RPG, 0.8 BPG

21. Trail Blazers Select Tyler Honeycutt

10 of 30

Honeycutt has an impressive overall skill level and feel for the game. If he doesn't drain threes as much in the NBA, he still can use his high basketball IQ plays with his movement . He also has the ability to make plays inside despite his small height advantage.

He has to start Improving his upper body strength and adding about 15 pounds to his weight. Turns the ball over a lot and has to stop being scared of attacking the rim.

NBA Comparison- Francisco Garcia

Projected Stats- 4.6 PPG, 2.9 RPG

20. Timberwolves Select Tobias Harris

11 of 30

Harris had a complete breakout year last year and has a unusual combination of being a power forward and a shooting guard simultaneously. He has a great work ethic and is willing to improve to be on a NBA level.

Though he has low stamina often and most likely won't be a 25-minute player every day.

NBA Comparison- Boris Diaw

Projected Stats- 8.1 PPG, 3.4 RPG, 1.1 3PG

19. Donatas Motiejunas Selected by Charlotte Bobcats

12 of 30

Has an array of moves. He passes off the dribble at a high level for a young player. His shot is decent, near an NBA level. He is willing to contribute and help his team.

His rebounding is solid but not terrific.  Plays in the post around the rim and willing to get in position. Good passer for his position. It looks like he will have problems adjusting.

NBA Comparison- Hedo Turkoglu

Projected Stats- 6.8 PPG, 4.4 RPG, 1.3 SPG

18. Wizards Select Klay Thompson

13 of 30

A versatile, highly skilled wing with good stroke and feel for the game. Fairly long and athletic. One of the most potent scorers in college while he made noticeable strides in multiple areas of his game this year.

Still, there are many questions surrounding Thompson's game and how it will transition to the next level, namely due to his lack of great athleticism and struggles on the defensive end.

NBA Comparison- Mike Miller

Projected Stats- 9.1 PPG, 2.1 RPG, 1,7 APG

17. NYK Selects Kenneth Faried

14 of 30

He is an outstanding rebounder, good length, can block shots, explosive skills, defensive beast, up and coming and is talented in much more. Good fit for Knicks.

Though, his jump shot needs improvement, he has a bad height for his position and doesn't have many ways to score besides layups and dunks.

NBA Comparison- Kris Humphries

NBA Projected stats- 5.6 PPG, 5.8 RPG, 1.4 BPG

16. Jordan Hamilton to 76ers

15 of 30

He is a big tim scorer, has the ability to catch and shoot and has a decent size for his position. Fadeaway advantage is a good finish off to the game.

He has bad ball-handling, hogs the ball often and can't take defense for his life.

NBA Comparison- Cedric Ceballos

Projected Stats-10.8 PPG, 1.3 RPG

15. Marshon Brooks to Pacers

16 of 30

Yes, it's obvious. He won't go this high though I think he deserves around here. He averaged 24.6 points per game last year which means he is a defensive beast. He's a great athlete for his position, he has a decent size and is a good player.

Though, he doesn't pass much, hogs the ball and isn't very aggressive, but if he improves, he can be a star.

NBA Comparison- Jordan Crawford

Projected Stats- 8.6 PPG, 4.8 RPG

14. Markieff Morris to the Rockets

17 of 30

It runs in the family. He has a strong body moves well and is a great athlete. He is very comfortable on the court, NBA ready and can force to the rim.

His assist/turnover ratio is a massive concern. He needs to get more active on the court, doesn't have great ball control and not a high ceiling.

NBA Comparison- Better version of D.J White

Projected Stats-8.1 PPG, 1.2 BPG, 3.1 RPG

13. Marcus Morris to Suns

18 of 30

Morris has a great upside. He has the ability to create his own shots, he is also a great perimeter shooter, he moves around a lot and has a good pass. He also has plenty of potential and keeps improving.

However Morris is a low block scorer,  a terrible three-point shot and still needs improvement.

NBA Comparison- Drew Gooden

Projected Stats- 9.2 PPG, 5.2 RPG, 0.3 BPG

12. Jimmer to Utah

19 of 30

A complete scorer. Lead the NCAA with a 28.9 PPG, though he doesn't have other aspects which will make him deep into the first half of the first round.

No threat over defense whatsoever. Unless the Jazz find a way to bench him at defense and play him for offense he won't be able to be a high ceiling player. He is small only 6'2".

NBA Comparison- Eddie House

Projected Stats- 10.0 PPG, 1.4 RPG

11. Bismack Biyombo to the Warriors

20 of 30

He is built, strong and is a beast on the court. Some people even believe he is 23 with his 7'7" wingspan. He will rebound and defend .

His chances of going back to international leagues are slightly high. He doesn't shoot much, has bad ball-handling, doesn't know his birthday and has an extremely low NBA IQ.

NBA Comparison- N/A

NBA Projected Stats- 3.7 PPG, 7.2 RPG, 1.7 BPG

10. Tristan Thompson Ends Up with Bucks

21 of 30

Tristan Thompson is a dominant Speedy Big-man, with a huge wingspan, good defender a good finisher, has ball-handling control. Also, he has a great combo of length and his strength.

His shot from the line is concerning.  Needs to work on his jump shot and consistency on the offensive end.

NBA Comparison- Amir Johnson

NBA Stats Projection- 7.6 PPG, 6.1 RPG, .9 BPG

9. Jonas Valanciunus to the Bobcats

22 of 30

He's a good big-man no doubt about that. He is a good athlete but needs to develop a bit more. Good post up, very fast, doesn't hog.

There are many questions of him going to the NBA and not going back to the international leagues. He needs to improve, doesn't learn quickly.

NBA Comparison- Yi Jianlian

Projected Stats-5.7 PPG, 6.8 RPG, 0.5 BPG

8. Alec Burks to Pistons

23 of 30

Freshman with intriguing size/length and athleticism, Shows the prerequisite size and athleticism to play the shooting guard position at the NBA level, he's explosive and has a ton of leadership.

He's still young, he needs to develop and takes ridiculous shots needs a better NBA IQ. In a few years, he could be a star though.

NBA Comparison- Evan Turner

Projected Stats- 8.7 PPG, 3.2 APG, 1.6 SPG

7. Kemba Walker to the Kings

24 of 30

He's a quick explosive leader. He has a great shot is NBA ready and can dazzle the scoreboard. He is also a good fit for his position a true point guard. He is a beast from behind the arc.

At 185 pounds, he desperately needs to put on some weight. He is short at 6'1" with shoes on. His shots are very commonly blocked, he doesn't have good defense and because of his height, no blocks can even be attempted.

NBA Comparison- Better version of Nate Robinson

Projected Stats- 12.4 PPG, 4.8 APG, 1.6 3PG

6. Kawhi to the Wizards

25 of 30

He spends majority of the time on the perimeter but occasionally shows the ability to play with his back to the basket. Wery tricky on the court, he can make his own moves and continuously trick defenders with his post up.

He doesn't have much control of the ball, he isn't a huge offensive threat, he doesn't pass much and is not NBA ready.

NBA Comparison- Gerald Wallace

Projected Stats- 9.2 PPG, 5.8 RPG,1.2 SPG

5. Brandon Knight to the Raptors

26 of 30

Brandon Knight is a known big time scorer, he has the ability to make his own shots and much more. He slumped some of the past year which brought his status down a bit. He is an impact player who will be a great addition to any team.

Though he is not a good fit to be a point guard. He doesn't pass the ball much, and if he won't be a leader, it could be a problem.

NBA Comparison- Jason Terry

Projected Stats- 14.3 PPG, 3.2 RPG, 2.5 APG

4. Jan Vesely to the Cavs

27 of 30

He is a great fit for the Cavs. He is a great rebounder, a complete athlete and fit for the NBA he has a good basketball IQ and a great height. Can easily knock a three down.

Veselys' post moves aren't his best skill. He needs a lot of work on them and doesn't play well in physical defense. He's skinny and needs to gain a few pounds.

NBA Comaprison- Andrei Kirilienko

Projected Stats- 11.6 PPG, 6.9 RPG

3. Enes Kanter to the Jazz

28 of 30

Kanter is a strong rebounder and physical in the paint.  He is a great free-throw shooter and has a decent jump shot. He has a large wingspan as his height is close to 7'0". He has patience and is a smart and wise defender. He's good around the basket, can easily get past defenders. He also moves very well and can easily draw a foul.

He doesn't have great ball security especially in the post. It's not difficult to steal the ball away from him. He isn't a super or explosive athlete, and defense can improve.

NBA Comparison- Andray Blatche/ Al Jefferson

Projected Stats- 15.9 PPG, 9.2 RPG, 1.4 BPG

2. Derrick Williams Goes to the Minnesota Timberwolves

29 of 30

He is clutch and can shoot. He's in a perfect position to enter the NBA and has a great jump shot, post-up skills and more. He has a ton of potential and is an athletic beast. He is a true star. Williams is a smart kid, who works hard and maintains a high activity level every time he steps on the floor. He keeps on improving and improving.

Williams has a slight defensive issue. He is a hog and doesn't have great leadership skills. His speed is decent on the floor but can get better. He is too confident in himself.

NBA Comparison- Michael Beasley

Predicted Stats- 16.8 PPG, 5.2 RPG, 0.6 BPG

Saving the Best for Last Kyrie Irving at No. 1 Going to Cleveland

30 of 30

Kyrie Irving will bring his talents to Cleveland!! Irving is a future star and is a total point guard. He is a big game player has tremendous passing skills and could be the next Chris Paul. In this case, I don't believe the Duke busts conspiracy!

He can score and much more, as his high school coach even said he is most likely the best basketball player and point guard to ever come out of New Jersey.

Kyrie has slight injury risk, he is not very strong, but otherwise, he is a beast, and I can't wait to see him in the NBA!

NBA Comparison- Chris Paul

Predicted Stats- 18.6 PPG, 10.4 APG, 2.1 SPG
