All four games ended in draws as Northamptonshire and Glamorgan stay in the promotion places.

Northamptonshire drew with next-to-bottom side Leicestershire at the County Ground.

The away side batted first and posted 313, Andrew McDonald hitting 164 from 140 balls, while Jack Brooks took 5-80.

Northamptonshire fell to 70-5 in reply but recovered to make 312 as Andrew Wakely hit 98 and was well supported by the lower order. McDonald also shining with the ball, taking 3-51 and Wayne White 3-91.

With Day 2 washed out to rain, Leicestershire reached 268-3, Matthew Boyce making 101 before a draw was agreed.

Glamorgan drew with Surrey, who have now drawn four of their six games.

A 225-run third-wicket partnership between Alviro Petersen (210) and Mike Powell (99) helped the visitors post 419 in their first innings.

Jade Dernbach (3-116), Tim Linley (3-98) and Chris Jordan (3-81) all took three wickets.

Steve Davies' 77 and Mark Ramprakash's 67 helped Surrey reply with 284, as Chris Ashling claimed 4-47.

Glamorgan reached 259-4 second time around before they declared as Gareth Rees hit 126.

Chasing 395 for victory, Surrey reached 194-1, Jason Roy unbeaten on 106, before the match ended in a draw.

Middlesex, who have played six games, drew with Essex, who have played seven times this season.

Sam Robson's 146 guided promotion-chasing Middlesex to 385 in their first innings in Chelmsford. Graham Napier taking 5-56.

Owais Shah hit 96 as Essex posted 291 in reply. Tim Murtagh's 5-82 the pick of the bowlers.

Middlesex declared on 211-6 as Neil Dexter ended on 73 not out, while David Masters took 4-61.

Chasing 306 for victory, Essex wobbled to 196-7 before the match ended in a draw. Adam Wheater's 76 not out helping Essex survive, while Murtagh picked up 3-9 and Dawid Malan claimed 2-10.

Two sides battling it out at the wrong end of the table drew at Canterbury.

Derbyshire piled on 460 but were 327-1 at one stage thanks to Wayne Madsen (140) and Usman Khawaja (135). Ashley Shaw claimed 5-118 for the home side.

Martin van Jaarsveld's 95 and some lower-order resistance guided Kent to 352, as Tim Groenewald took 4-64.

Derbyshire declared on 256-4 as Wes Durston finished 51 not out. Chasing 365 to win, Kent reached 94-2 before the match ended in a draw.

The next round of fixtures, starting on May 29, sees Derbyshire play Surrey, Gloucestershire face Essex, Kent host Leicestershire and Northamptonshire against Glamorgan.
