To Bleacher Report: When Does the Wrestling Writer Get His Chance?
As mainly a wrestling writer who has gone through just about everything possible on Bleacher Report, I have to say I have enjoyed my experience on here. I am a former co-community leader with Ron Johnson. I have gotten to the No. 1 spot in the wrestling section—not to make it sound as if I am better than anyone, but my name is there.
However, there seems to be a lack of wrestling articles on the front page, and a lack of respect to the wrestling writers on Bleacher Report that I have seen in my time here.
I am relatively new and have accomplished so much more than I even dreamed possible here, but when a writer from another sport bashes any other sport, it is unacceptable to me and everyone in the wrestling community.
We don't bash the boring sport of cricket, do we? So why should you mock us?
Back to my point: When does the wrestling writer get his chance over all of the competition to get his one shining moment in the spotlight? We are put in our section to keep to ourselves, while not just NFL, NBA, or college sports get the front page, but also soccer and MMA.
Do you see the problem, B/R? You see its: favoritism. Sure, I am not by any means the best writer on B/R, and you don't have to tell me that, 'cause I don't think it. But I shouldn't have to resort to writing an article about soccer, which I am not passionate about, to get on the front page.
B/R's wrestling section is one of the fastest growing sections on B/R, and why? Because people are interested in it, and it's an open source sporting network, where writers can write about just about any sport imaginable.
Wrestling is a sport, or you wouldn't have it on here, would you B/R? I'll answer it for you: NO. So when does that wrestling writer get his chance? I have seen many people on here with enough fans and the level of writing to get there, so you can't say it is because of that.
For once, put up one article about a section that is one of the most popular sports in the world—wrestling. Sure, it's scripted, and the wrestlers know the outcome of it before the match, but its still exciting, compelling, edge of your seat drama that sports are made of.
So to Zander and all of Bleacher Report, we the wrestling writers are here to stay, so why don't you give us a little spotlight for once? If you can do it for every other section, why not wrestling?
