25 Serie A Players Who Figure to Change Teams This Summer
The best part of summer soccer is following the transfer market. It is when teams make deals and prognosticators begin making their predictions for the following season.
This summer is no different as it figures to see quite a few big names changes squads.
The following list is in alphabetical order of 25 players who could be packing their bags this summer.
Sergio Almiron, Bari
1 of 25
The Argentine center midfielder doesn't figure to make the drop with Bari into Serie B. He should be in high demand.
Possible suitors: Napoli, Fiorentina, Genoa, Palermo, Udinese.
Mariano Andujar, Catania
2 of 25
The Argentinian goalkeeper wants to leave the Sicilian club for a chance to play with a better club.
He doesn't appear to be high on the wish list of any top Italian clubs, so he may have to move to another country.
Jonathan Biabiany, Sampdoria
3 of 25
Biabiany's stay in Genoa won't last very long. He came over in January as part of the trade that sent Giampaolo Pazzini to Inter.
The young French forward will certainly draw interest from a number of teams and is unlikely to follow Sampdoria into Serie B. Possible suitors include Udinese, Parma, Fiorentina.
Marco Borriello, as Roma
4 of 25
Gianluca Curci, Sampdoria
5 of 25
Daniele Dessena, Sampdoria
6 of 25
Dessena has played his entire career in Serie A, and he certainly will not want to drop as he is still in his early 20s. Dessena has become a solid backup midfielder who has even taken on the role of playing in a wing defensive role at times.
Marco Donadel, Fiorentina
7 of 25
Donadel is somewhat like Dessena, except that he is a few years older and more experienced. He is a free agent.
Any team in need of a hard-working midfielder should consider Donadel, who can start for a middle-of-the-road club or be a valuable sub for a top side.
Possible suitors include Genoa, Napoli, Parma, Palermo, AC Milan.
Daniele Gastaldello, Sampdoria
8 of 25
A year ago Gastadello was considered one of the most improved Italian defenders. This summer his value was slipped a bit as Sampdoria is headed to Serie B. But the central defender will almost certainly move away as a number of clubs will be interested in his services.
Possible destinations include Napoli, Fiorentina, Palermo, Juventus, AC Milan, AS Roma.
Stefano Guberti, Sampdoria
9 of 25
Guberti is another talented winger/attacking midfielder who already showed dominance in Serie B two seasons ago when he helped Bari up to Serie A.
Guberti almost certainly won't be headed back, and he will have a number of teams interested.
Possible destinations for Guberti include Fiorentina, Palermo, Parma.
Gokhan Inler, Udinese
10 of 25
Inler has done a stellar job in the middle of Udinese's midfield this season and has one club that wants him badly. It will be tough to keep him from moving to Napoli this summer.
Other possible destinations include Inter Milan and AC Milan.
Nicola Le Grottaglie, AC Milan
11 of 25
A year ago, Le Grottaglie nearly made Italy's World Cup team. After spending the first half of the season with Juventus, he moved to AC Milan.
Big clubs are not likely to be interested in his services anymore. But he is an experienced veteran who can still be a valuable part of a club.
Possible destinations include Parma, Lecce, Bologna, Napoli.
Maxi Lopez, Catania
12 of 25
Speculation that Lopez would be leaving Catania at the season's end has been high for quite some time. Where he ends up will be interesting. Juventus are a possible suitor.
He could also move to Lazio or quite simply move out of Italy.
Stefano Lucchini, Sampdoria
13 of 25
Lucchini, like his center back partner Gastaldello, had a stellar season a year ago and was even called into the national team. Chances are Sampdoria will push to keep him.
But he should move to another side. Possible suitors include Lazio, Palermo, Napoli, Fiorentina.
Daniele Mannini, Sampdoria
14 of 25
Mannini is a talented wing midfielder who can be a scoring threat. He is one of a number of Sampdoria players that don't figure to drop to Serie B.
Possible suitors include Fiorentina, Udinese, Palermo, Parma.
Federico Marchetti, Cagliari
15 of 25
Marchetti has not played all season after a lousy World Cup last summer when he took over for the injured Gianluigi Buffon, but Marchetti has teams interested in him.
Possible destinations include AS Roma, Genoa, AC Milan, Lazio.
Angelo Palombo, Sampdoria
16 of 25
This guy is a warrior and will certainly move to a top club. The captain of Sampdoria, he was part of Italy's World Cup side a year ago. Now at 30, he is a solid veteran that a number of clubs would love to have.
Possible suitors include Fiorentina, Napoli, AC Milan, Lazio, Juventus.
Sokratis Papastathopoulos, AC Milan
17 of 25
The Greek defender has had a wasted season. He isn't up to AC Milan standards and will certainly be shown the door as he has been on loan from Genoa.
Genoa will probably keep him. But he could end up moving to a club elsewhere in Europe.
Javier Pastore, Palermo
18 of 25
With Palermo not participating in European competition next season, it appears that Palermo will cash in on its star while his value remains high. Pastore has shown the ability to be as good as any player in the world not named Lionel Messi. Sides from all over would love to have him.
It appears that teams outside Italy have cooled on him recently. Likely destinations are AS Roma, Juventus or Barcelona.
Andrea Pirlo, AC Milan
19 of 25
A true legend in the sport, Pirlo is out of contract and is unlikely to remain with AC Milan. While Pirlo could remain with the Rossoneri, he is more likely to join Juventus.
Another possibility is AS Roma if Carlo Ancelotti ends up there as he may leave Chelsea.
Andrea Poli, Sampdoria
20 of 25
Poli is a talented young midfield prospect wanted by many of Italy's top clubs. He will likely go to one of the big three—Inter Milan, AC Milan or Juventus.
He could be loaned out to another club next season though.
Alexis Sanchez, Udinese
21 of 25
Sanchez is one of the most wanted players in Europe. It will be difficult for Udinese to hold on to the Chilean. Inter Milan and Chelsea seem to be the most likely destinations for Sanchez.
Clarence Seedorf, AC Milan
22 of 25
Seedorf has had an outstanding career and is still capable of being a key player anywhere in the world.
Out of contract with AC Milan, this is one player that could end up anywhere in the world. He is wanted in Brazil because his wife is Brazilian. He is very friendly with the media and speaks fluent English and Spanish in addition to Italian.
Major League Soccer would be smart to make a move for Seedorf as he is a great player and person.
David Suazo, Inter Milan
23 of 25
The veteran Honduran forward has fallen far back on Inter's depth chart and appears on his way out. Suazo has teams interested in Europe and will likely play outside of Serie A next season.
Emiliano Viviano, Bologna
24 of 25
One of the top younger keepers in Serie A, Viviano is part-owned by Inter, and the club would like to take him back from Bologna. The only problem is that Viviano doesn't want to be a backup to Julio Cesar.
A native of Florence, he has publicly stated that his dream is to play for Fiorentina. With two quality starters in Sebastien Frey and Artur Boruc, that dream doesn't appear to be possible right now.
Reto Ziegler, Sampdoria
25 of 25
A few months ago several big clubs were showing interest in the Swiss left back. The interest should pick up again this summer.
Possible destinations include AC Milan and Juventus.
