Real Madrid: 6 Reasons Why José Mourinho Should Stay
With two games remaining in their schedule, the season is actually over for Real Madrid.
Los Merengues don’t fight for anything else anymore. No, inflating Cristiano Ronaldo’s goals total doesn’t count as anything that matters.
José Mourinho’s first season in charge of Real Madrid ends with a bittersweet taste. The Portuguese coach was brought to win the Champions League and La Liga, but he had to settle with a victory in the Copa del Rey.
While it seems The Special One is returning for a second season, there also have been rumors that Real Madrid boss Fiorentino Pérez has contacted other coaches to replace him.
We won’t know Mourinho’s fate for sure for a couple of weeks, but here are a few reasons why he should stay in Madrid.
1. Firing Him Would Be Too Expensive

Real Madrid paid €8 million to Inter Milan for Mourinho and signed him to a four-year contract worth €40 million.
Although last year it was reported that the contract had an escape clause for both sides after every season, I doubt Mourinho would have taken the risk of signing knowing he could be sacked after just one year with no financial retribution.
Firing Mourinho would surely cost a lot to Real Madrid.
2. There Is No One Better Available

So, Mourinho is gone, then, who takes charge?
Love him or hate him, the truth is there are few coaches in the same league of the Portuguese.
Vicente del Bosque was reported to have a preliminary agreement with Real Madrid, but he is not leaving the Spanish National Team just one year before defending their title in the 2012 Euro.
Who else is left? Alex Ferguson? He is not leaving Manchester.
Arsène Wenger? His reputation took a hit with another winless season at Arsenal.
3. Real Madrid Did Win a Title This Season

Maybe it was the less important of the tournaments Real Madrid played, but at least they won the Copa del Rey.
After two seasons without winning any title, breaking their 18-year drought in the Spanish Cup was a success.
At least until Sergio Ramos drop the trophy in front of the team bus.
4. Continuity Is Needed to Challenge Barcelona

Mourinho was harshly criticized for the defensive-minded style Real Madrid used against Barcelona.
However, people seem to forget that this Barcelona is in the discussion for best team ever, the product of many years of work.
The Catalan side has the three best players of the world in its squad, the core has been playing together for a long time and there is a football philosophy in the team that is thought from the youth squads.
No team can compete with that in one year. Not even Real Madrid.
5. Mourinho Can Beat Barcelona
5 of 7
In the last two seasons, José Mourinho’s teams have beat Barcelona twice in knockout stages.
Inter Milan defeated Barça in their way to the UEFA Champions League, while Real Madrid won the Final of the Copa del Rey against their bitter rivals.
It wasn’t pretty, but it was effective.
6. Even in Defeat, Mourinho Won

After Real Madrid’s defeat in the Champions League, the common reaction of Los Merengues’ supporters would have been anger towards their team and, especially, their coach.
It wasn’t the case.
Despite Barça had been clearly superior, Madrid fans felt they were robbed.
Mourinho’s handling of the press is despised by many, but it served to generate an “it’s the world against us” feeling among the Real Madrid community.
That feeling won’t go away as long as Mourinho keeps using the media to “protect” his team and himself.
So, What Do You Think?
