Present Us Certainty: Season Ticket Sales in the NFL
Here we go again.
As surely as the owners of the National Football League began to felt the court's pressure weighing down on them as United States District Judge Susan Richard Nelson ordered the owners of NFL teams to open the doors for players, said doors have once again been slammed shut in the form of a handsome appeal.
Unfortunately for the latter, the vast majority of fans are calling shenanigans.
With continuing uncertainty of whether or not the NFL will even be capable of producing a full slate of games for the 2011 regular season, the 32 organizations have still begun to close doors for those that wish to purchase season tickets. While it can be predicted that refunds would be issued for any games that may be potentially postponed or just flat out cancelled due to the current debacle, that is the capability of "Peaceful" negotiations between the members of the NFL Players Union and the owners themselves, the buyers themselves would like some certainty.
You may ask, why even question such an almost-certainty, though? Try asking the fans who were denied their entrance into the recent Super Bowl. It seems that in today's game, "Doing what is right," is not such a popular moral. While some may find this a moot point for the time being, it would appear that as fans and business owners alike conduct one massive scramble to rake in as many tickets as possible for their favorite team's upcoming quest for a championship. Only time will unfold whether it will be in truth and triumph or, as we see now, surrounded by a milky veil.
