NFL Trade Speculation: Odds of Kevin Kolb Landing with Potential Suitors
Quarterback Kevin Kolb started this past season as the Philadelphia Eagles' starter.
Andy Reid had sold the fanbase on him, calling him a quarterback who could lead the franchise for the next 10 years.
Many believed the Eagles would finish third behind the Cowboys and Giants in the NFC East and end the year as a rebuilding team.
However, Kolb got hurt in Week 1 and the rest is history.
The Eagles cannot now trade Kolb unless a new CBA is reached, which will most likely come after the draft.
Coach Reid has said that he would consider future picks for Kolb, while Adam Caplan of FoxSports feels there is no chance that Kolb remains an Eagle next season.
All the same, any team that acquires Kolb would certainly strengthen their chances as a playoff contender.
But which teams are most likely to land the Eagle?
7. Cincinnati Bengals
1 of 7
The Bengals need a quarterback, what with the whole Carson Palmer debacle.
Palmer has repeatedly stated that he wants out—or else he will retire.
The only problem is that Bengals owner Mike Adams will not trade Palmer. He almost never gives into his players' demands.
The question is, would Cincinnati trade next year's first-round pick for Kolb if they still plan on going with Palmer for the season?
Even though the Bengals have been linked with Kolb, I highly doubt they will make a huge run after him.
Odds: 20-1
6. Minnesota Vikings
2 of 7
The Vikings have Joe Webb slated to start next season, which would lessen their chances to compete.
This team is veteran-laden, and the window to win a Super Bowl may be closing shortly. Therefore, pursuing a veteran quarterback is a must.
The Vikings seem the likeliest landing spot for Donovan McNabb, especially after multiple reports have stated that the Vikings are pursuing him.
McNabb even said he would be "happy" to play for the Vikings.
Odds: 15-1
5. Tennessee Titans
3 of 7
The Titans have moved on from Vince Young and may not offer Kerry Collins the starting job.
Kolb could be a great fit with Mike Munchak and the Titans.
Munchak, unlike a few coaches on this list, also has more than one year to prove his legitimacy as a coach.
The Titans are in prime position to take a quarterback early in the second and could stick with developing him, instead of trading multiple draft picks next year for Kolb.
Odds: 9-1
4. Miami Dolphins
4 of 7
If Chad Henne can improve even in the slightest way, then the Dolphins have to be major sleepers next season.
Henne, however, seems to struggle in big moments and has lost the trust of head coach Tony Sparano, who has two years to show why he can still lead the team.
Sparano may have to go after a veteran to save his job.
Kolb could be the perfect fit for the Dolphins, who have an above average defense, an elite receiver and a solid offensive line.
Could Kolb be the missing link in Miami?
Odds: 6-1
3. San Francisco 49ers
5 of 7
Newly hired coach Jim Harbaugh runs his version of the West Coast offense—a system that Kolb is familiar with in Philadelphia.
Kolb could be a perfect fit for a team that only really lacks a quarterback in order to compete for their division.
Since the NFC West is certainly winnable, the Niners could look to Kolb to lead them to a long-awaited playoff berth.
With a defense that will look to rebound from a disappointing season, Kolb could be a great fit with Jim Harbaugh.
However, Harbaugh could be looking for "his guy" in the draft, instead of trading for Kolb.
Odds: 5-1
2. Arizona Cardinals
6 of 7
Coach Ken Whisenhunt has one season left with the Cardinals, unless he turns around the ship.
The Cardinals struggled with quarterbacks like Derek Anderson, Max Hall and John Skelton, who actually did show some potential, but probably still needs a season to learn behind a veteran.
Star receiver Larry Fitzgerald will also have to consider where his team is at and will factor in the Kolb sweepstakes this offseason.
Fitzgerald even said that Kolb would be his first choice at quarterback next season (even though he later retracted from those comments).
Kolb is ready to start now and could appease Fitzgerald and possibly convince him to stay in Arizona.
Odds: 4-1
1. Seattle Seahawks
7 of 7
The Seahawks have been linked with Kolb since last offseason
According to reports, the Seahawks were willing to give up a first-round pick for Kolb last offseason.
If that was the case, they would certainly still be interested in him.
The 'Hawks are a rising, young team and could acquire Kolb, who would be an upgrade over incumbent starter Matt Hasselbeck.
Odds: 3-1
