Brock Lesnar: 5 Fights for the Former UFC Heavyweight Champion

Sal DeRoseJun 7, 2018

With The Ultimate Fighter about to kickoff next Wednesday on Spike, Brock Lesnar begins his road to regain his heavyweight belt.

Lesnar will begin that journey against Junior dos Santos at UFC 131 in Vancouver, Canada.

Here are some fights for the former heavyweight champion, including an early breakdown of Lesnar versus dos Santos.

Roy Nelson

This could be a great fight for Roy Nelson. A win over Lesnar gives him one huge quality win and could very well be a rebound fight for Lesnar. Nelson is a big guy and would take out the size advantage Brock brings to the table; plus on the ground Nelson would be a pretty tough opponent.

One big problem is the stand-up game that could prove disastrous for Lesnar. He isn't the greatest stand-up fighter and Nelson definitely carries that advantage into the fight. If Lesnar can take a couple of Nelson bombs he can surely last through this fight and get the "W."

Personally I don't think Brock would have too much trouble with Nelson and would be a pretty good matchup for both fighters.

If I were to make a prediction I would definitely be picking Lesnar.

Chance of beating Nelson: 70 percent

Cain Velasquez

Current UFC Heavyweight Champion

Velasquez earned his heavyweight belt against Lesnar, beating him until he bled on the mat. Now this would be a great return fight for Lesnar and could happen if Lesnar beats JDS at UFC 131.

Velasquez just neutralizes all of Brock's advantages that he normally carries into a fight. Cain is as big as Brock, he neutralizes Brock's wrestling and on the ground they are completely even.

Velasquez would keep this fight standing and it would end much like the last time with Lesnar bleeding from above his eye and sending him to an early knockout loss. I can't see Lesnar beating Velasquez, but if Lesnar wants that belt back he will have to go through Velasquez and that won't be an easy task.

Chance of beating Velasquez: 25 percent

Shane Carwin

This would be a great rebound fight for Brock if he were to lose to dos Santos at UFC 131.

Carwin's only loss in his MMA career came at the hands of Lesnar when he was submitted in the second round. The fight last July was Carwin's last MMA fight after having to undergo neck surgery last November.

Carwin would probably be yet another easy win for Lesnar. I don't see it ending any differently than their first fight where Carwin didn't look great.

As good of an all-around fighter Carwin is, he still doesn't have what it takes to beat Lesnar.

Chances of beating Carwin: 80 percent

This could be just me, but I would love to see this fight go down. If Lesnar were to take this fight to the ground, Nogueira (Big Nog) would give him trouble.

Out of Big Nog's 32 career victories, 20 come by submission; not to mention only two knockout losses and none by submission.

Big Nog can take a punch and can definitely take one from Lesnar. This would be a really tough fight for Lesnar considering who he is fighting. I can't see Lesnar lasting a whole fight against the likes of Big Nog who seriously evens out Lesnar.

If Big Nog was 100 percent healthy, I could see Big Nog winning. It's probably just me, but I could definitely see it.

Chances of beating Big Nog: 45 percent

Junior Dos Santos

Junior dos Santos versus Brock Lesnar will headline UFC 131. These two fighters will duke it out for the right to face Cain Velasquez for the heavyweight title. Lesnar will come into that fight with a huge chip on his shoulder and after watching his past interviews leading up to The Ultimate Fighter 13, Lesnar seems to have immense fire.

I don't think Lesnar will lose this one but JDS has great striking and solid ground work that could send Lesnar into turtle mode.

I think this is a solid matchup and if it wasn't for that fire burning inside Lesnar, JDS would win this easy. But no one wants to face an angry Lesnar.

He's going to go Hulk at UFC 131. I would not want to be the guy facing Brock after a loss like he had against Velasquez.

Chances of beating dos Santos: 60 percent
