UFC 132: The Last Chance for The Huntington Beach Bad Boy

Cody SlovenskyMar 22, 2011

"The Huntington Beach Bad Boy" Tito Ortiz, is one of the most hated people in the sport of mixed martial arts. His antics, both pre and post fight, as well as past media attention, have made many people lose respect for him. His record in his past five fights is 0-4-1, but all the fights were against top 20 talent. He may be hated and criticized, but no matter your opinion on him, he always takes the tough fights.

At UFC 132 Tito is slated to face Ryan Bader in a very interesting Light Heavyweight bout. Both men are wrestlers, with Tito having the better technical stand up, while Bader possesses the power. Automatically, most people will count Tito out. Why is that? Is it because you dislike him? Or do you really feel his opponent is too good?

Take a look at Tito's past few opponents, it is quite interesting.

At the time of each of those fights, the opponent was in the top 20, with four of the five being top ten and one being ranked number one. At this point, it isn't about the money with Tito, he has plenty. The man just loves the competition.

Tito is at the point in his career in which retirement should be one of the main topics on his mind, but instead, it's getting back into the octagon and opening up the new Team Punishment Training Center.

Tito will never fight for the UFC Light Heavyweight title again, but that doesn't mean he won't keep competing. Another interesting fact, four of the past five fights were to former champions.

In the fight with Bader, Tito will look to expose Bader's one dimensional stand up game. Bader is the better wrestler, but Tito has really worked hard in order to improve his wrestling again. Out of Tito's past five fights, this one presents his best chance to win.

It is arguable, however, that Tito won the Forrest fight, grabbing the fence cost him the Rashad fight, and he almost got Lyoto at the end.

Tito has his chance right here to go out on a great win. The odds in him winning are slim, IF Bader fights a smart fight. Before hating on Tito, at least respect the fact that he has fought the best and still came back after having serious surgeries.

He is one of the last originals remaining, and sadly, as of late, the originals haven't had the greatest of luck. Love him or hate him, you have to respect him.
