NASCAR: Carl Edwards, Kyle Busch and When Carl Wrecks Kyle
Kyle Busch took the checkered flag at the Jeff Byrd 500 at Bristol Motor Speedway on Sunday, March 20, but controversy always seems to follow the youngest Busch brother.
In the closing laps of the race, Busch was racing hard toward the victory with Carl Edwards.
The two drivers were battling for the win alongside each other before Busch eventually went on to pass Edwards for the win.
“I still got one in my pocket,” Edwards said when asked why he didn’t wreck Busch at the end of the race.
Edwards was wrecked three weeks ago at Phoenix, and it seems that Edwards is going to save his free pass to spin Busch until he needs it.
The following list is of the seven most likely locations Edwards will get his revenge.
7. Samsung Mobile 500
1 of 7
The first real chance for Kyle Busch and Carl Edwards to get into a mix-up will be at the Samsung Mobile 500 at Texas Motor Speedway.
Texas is a mile and a half long and both Busch and Edwards do well on tracks that size.
While Busch has had success in all three series at Texas, Edwards is the better of the two with three Sprint Cup Series victories at Texas Motor Speedway.
6. Showtime Southern 500

While only Kyle Busch is the only driver of the two who has won a Sprint Cup series race at Darlington Raceway, both are used to performing well on the track.
They say Darlington is the track too tough to tame, but you better believe Edwards and Busch will be on a collision course when Darlington comes around.
With both racers fighting for a Darlington victory, there will be no love lost. This could be a likely spot for Edwards to “move” Busch aside if that’s what comes to fruition.
5. Heluva Good! Sour Cream Dips 400

Kyle Busch doesn’t have the most success at Michigan International Speedway, but like every other track in the country, he has a fighting chance.
Edwards on the other hand, has two previous Sprint Cup series victories at Michigan and will look to make it more this season.
With Busch running strong, there could be a chance they meet at the front of the pack in June at the Heluva Good! Sour Cream Dips 400.
4. Pennsylvania 500

As a kid from Pennsylvania, I would love for Edwards to use his payback on Busch at the Pocono Raceway.
Edwards has two Sprint Cup series victories and Busch is no slouch at Pocono either. He won the pole and finished second at last season’s Gillette Fusion ProGlide 500.
Hopefully the payback ticket hasn’t been punched by the time this race comes around, so that I can try to enjoy it firsthand.
3. One Last Race To Make The Chase 400
5 of 7
With the One Last Race To Make The Chase 400 at Richmond International Raceway, the pressure will be through the roof.
Teams will be competing for their spots in the chase and it will get rough out there. This might be the perfect time for Edwards to “move” Busch aside to take a victory.
While Edwards has no Sprint Cup series victories at Richmond, he has won in the Nationwide series and performs well there every time.
Kyle Busch has two victories at Richmond and knows how to get around that track with the best of them.
2. Bank of America 500
6 of 7
I think the most likely place these two drivers could meet at the front would be at a track where neither has won before.
While both have has some success at Charlotte Motor Speedway (Lowes), neither has been able to take the checkers during a Sprint Cup race.
I think when the heat is on and it comes down to a first victory at a track and second, we might see someone get “loose.”
1. Ford 400
7 of 7
In a perfect world, Kyle Busch and Carl Edwards would battle for the championship into the final week of the season.
I know that probably won’t happen, but they still could be battling for the win and not the championship and Edwards could see it as the “nice” way to get him back.
Edwards is a two time victor at Homestead-Miami Speedway, and he will look to win his third race at the Ford 400 in four years.
