Adrian Peterson's List of Time Periods Inaccurately Representing NFL Lockout

Carlos SandovalMar 17, 2011

So, recently Adrian Peterson made a complete idiot of himself when he said the NFL was kind of like "modern day slavery". Sure, it's hard work, but you're getting paid millions. I did some heavy research and found that slaves were not knowingly paid millions of dollars.

Still, Adrian Peterson was trying to put this NFL lockout into perspective for us normal folk, you know?

So let's put it into more perspective, no? Here are some things that inaccurately—yet, hyperbolically—compare to the NFL labor strife:

1. Prehistory: Some silly NFL players can compare this period in time to that of the NFL lockout. Really, both have a bunch of old dinosaurs—the owners—who are trying to dominate the era. Those dang players are being treated like cavemen. Those football stadiums are like their caves, and they're not allowed to go anywhere else, as they hide from the owners in fear that they'll eat the players!

Let me tell you, when Jerry Jones looks like this...you'd be scared as hell, too.

2. The Great Depression: This is the most logical one. I mean, the players are going poor, damn it! Sure, there aren't any famines, and the NFL isn't like a stock exchange or anything, but there are common similarities, such as millions and millions of Americans suffering! Without these players playing, the entire United States might as well be in poverty!

3. The Cold War: Paranoia, duh. Those poor players! Even though they've earned hundreds of millions of dollars, some of those players just earned LOW SIX-FIGURE INCOMES!! How do you expect them to even survive on that kind of income? They're undergoing serious paranoia and often worried of the nuclear warfare the owners can conduct upon them. Damn it!

4. The Great Recession of the Late 2000's: Guys, their homes could be foreclosed, and they might not even get a bailout. Bastard owners!

5. Peak Oil Production: Basically, the players' income is at peak right now. It's only downhill from here. So if they aren't playing football, how can they make the transition to other means of surviving? Do you seriously expect them to make it rain when they're using nuclear energy-type income? Come on, son!

Of course, I don't believe the NFL lockout should be compared to any of these tragic events. However, given Adrian Peterson's silly comments, this list was necessary! If you have any other suggestions, why not leave something in the comments?
