UFC 132: Jon Fitch vs. B.J. Penn 2 Set To Fight
At UFC 132, fans will get to see a rematch between welterweights Jon Fitch and B.J. Penn. Both fighters have verbally agreed to one more fight according to UFC.com.
Last time out the two fought to a draw at UFC 127 in Australia, a fight that many had Fitch winning. But in the end, it's a draw that will go on the record and it will need one more fight to determine who is the No. 1 contender in the welterweight division.
"Both fighters look to keep it out of the hands of the judges this time," said Ultimate Fighting Championship president Dana White.
Many fans didn't like the decision given out at the Acer Arena and many fans still don't like Fitch because of his boring fighting style.
No one saw the draw coming as Fitch dominated Penn in the third round and the second-round scoring could have gone either way.
"I thought [I deserved the win]," Fitch said after the fight. "I gave some positioning in the first two rounds, but I came back and did enough to at least win a split-decision."
"I think I got some dominant positions in the first and second, but he kicked my butt in the third," Penn said afterwards.
Numerous media outlets and commentators speculated that this could have been the last fight for Penn who is 32 years old.
"If I lost this fight, I wasn't sure what I was going to do with my career, but since the gods were nice to me and gave me a draw, if he wants to do it again, I'll do it again," Penn said.
Also for UFC 132, lightweights George Sotiropoulos and Evan Dunham have verbally agreed to fight.
Sotiropoulos is coming off a unanimous decision loss to lightweight Dennis Siver after amassing a 14-2 record, 7-1 in the UFC. Dunham on the other hand is coming off a TKO loss to Melvin Guillard at UFC Fight for the Troops 2. Dunham is on a two-match losing streak after winning his first 11 career bouts.
