UFC 128 Fight Card: Betting Odds and Predictions for Every Fight
It's that time again—predictions, betting odds and breakdowns for UFC 128.
UFC 128 could prove to be history in the making. It contains two of the biggest fights of the year so far.
Jon Jones faces off against UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Mauricio "Shogun" Rua in what could be his coming-out party, or Shogun could derail the hype train that Jones has built and send him back to working his way up the light heavyweight ladder.
Then you have Urijah Faber versus Eddie Wineland. Faber, with a win, could face off against Dominick Cruz for the bantamweight title. Cruz's only loss in his MMA career came against Faber way back in 2007.
Now without further delay, here are the UFC 128 predictions, betting odds and main card fight breakdowns.

Mirko "Cro Cop" Filipovic vs. Brendan Schaub
2 of 6
Mirko "Cro Cop" Filipovic (+210, 27-8-2, 1 NC)
20 wins by knockout, four wins by submission, three by decision.
Three losses by knockout, three by decision, two by submission.
Brendan Schaub (-280, 7-1-0)
Six wins by knockout, one by decision.
One loss by knockout.
Breakdown
Cro Cop is facing off against someone who's looking to use him as a steppingstone to the next level in the UFC's heavyweight division. Cro Cop will have his hands full with Schaub. I just haven't seen the fire Cro Cop used to bring to the Octagon. He's a little past his prime, but if he can keep the fight standing up, he still has a good shot to win.
Schaub winning this has huge implications for his career, and I can't see anything short of his A-game in this one. I don't think it's possible for him to blow this opportunity.
Prediction: Schaub via second-round TKO
Dan Miller vs. Nate Marquardt
3 of 6
Dan Miller (+210, 13-4-0, 1 NC)
Eight wins by submission, four by decision, one by knockout.
Four losses by decision.
Nate Marquardt (-280, 30-10-2)
15 wins by submission, nine by knockout, eight by decision.
Seven losses by decision, two by submission, one by knockout.
Breakdown
Miller is replacing Yoshihiro "Sexyama" Akiyama, who pulled out. Now Marquardt will be facing a guy who was pulled up from the undercard to fight him and who only had a little over two weeks to prepare for him.
I think Marquardt should be able to handle Miller and once again start his climb back to the top of the UFC middleweight division. Marquardt's striking is just far beyond that of Miller, and even if the fight were to go to the ground, Miller would still have a tough time winning. Miller hasn't faced anyone that's at the skill level of Marquardt yet.
Prediction: Marquardt via second-round TKO
Jim Miller vs. Kamal Shalorus
4 of 6
Jim Miller (-260, 19-2-0)
11 wins by submission, six by decision, two by knockout.
Two losses by decision.
Kamal Shalorus (+200, 7-0-2)
Four wins by knockout, two by decision, one by submission.
No losses.
Breakdown
Jim Miller, Dan's brother, is facing off against Kamal Shalorus. Breaking down these guys is pretty tough, as they are both solid fighters. But when you look at Miller, you just can't help but think about how this guy isn't more heavily hyped. Miller has a 19-2 record with his only two losses coming against Frankie Edgar and Gray Maynard. For those of you who don't know, Edgar and Maynard square off for the lightweight title at UFC 130.
This fight will certainly go the distance with Shalorus being fed to Miller. Miller could be in the title mix. This fight just helps propel him further.
Prediction: Miller via unanimous decision
Eddie Wineland vs. Urijah Faber
5 of 6
Eddie Wineland (+325, 18-6-1)
Nine wins by knockout, five by submission, four by decision.
Four losses by submission, one by knockout, one by decision.
Urijah Faber (-450, 24-4-0)
13 wins by submission, seven by knockout, three by decision, one by disqualification.
Two losses by knockout, two by decision.
Breakdown
I love Urijah Faber, and I love him in this fight. In his last five fights he is 3-2, but the title shot is so close for him that he won't blow this. Faber winning this sets up the biggest fight at 135 the UFC will see for a while and potentially one of the best 135-pound fights ever.
Wineland is a great striker, and Faber is a great fighter. If this fight goes to the ground or stays standing up, Faber will have the most control. He can stand and trade with him. It's definitely Faber's fight to lose.
Prediction: Faber by second-round submission
Mauricio "Shogun" Rua vs. Jon "Bones" Jones
6 of 6
Mauricio "Shogun" Rua (+160, 19-4-0)
16 wins by knockout, two by decision, one by submission
Two losses by submission, one by knockout, one by decision.
Jon Jones (-200, 12-1-0)
Seven wins by knockout, three by submission, two by knockout.
One loss by disqualification.
Breakdown
I'm so looking forward to this fight. There is way too much hype for Jones. Way. Too. Much. Hype. If that emphasis didn't get to you, I don't know what will. Jones has been dominant since his first day in MMA. His only loss came because he used illegal elbows.
However, everyone is overlooking Shogun here. I don't understand why. Jones is athletic, and his ground game will be neutralized by Shogun. Jones has a good size advantage and could be the better striker going into the fight (it's pretty close to a toss-up for me), but Rua is the defending champ getting no love. Rua has been dominant as well throughout his career. One loss was due to the ineptitude of the judges.
Rua will win this fight, but it goes the distance. Plus if you're betting on this, picking the underdog Shogun is a great bet.
Prediction: Rua by unanimous decision
