UFC 128 Fight Card: Urijah Faber and the 10 Best Fighters Under 155 Pounds
This Saturday at UFC 128, Urijah Faber will be making his Octagon debut. Faber will be fighting in the bantamweight class, one of the two new classes added by the UFC.
The bantamweight class is up to 135 pounds, while the other, the featherweight class, is up to 145 pounds.
Many people may be unfamiliar with the lighter classes, but in honor of the former WEC poster boy's debut, here are the 10 best fighters under 155.
Urijah Faber
1 of 10
Urijah Faber is the former WEC Featherweight Champion, and current UFC bantamweight.
Faber holds a professional MMA record of 24-4 and is possibly the most well-known face in the lighter weight classes.
Faber was the biggest draw for the WEC, and he was the organization's poster boy until it was absolved into the UFC.
Faber will be making his UFC debut this Saturday against the next man on this list...
Eddie Wineland
2 of 10
Eddie Wineland is the former WEC Bantamweight Champion, and a current UFC bantamweight.
Wineland holds a professional MMA record of 18-6-1, with half his wins coming by way of (T)KO.
He was the inaugural WEC Bantamweight Champion when he KO'd Antonio Banuelos with a head kick and punches.
He lost the title in his first defense, but he is still a lethal striker who will look to put on a great show against Urijah Faber on Saturday.
Dominick Cruz
3 of 10
Dominick Cruz is the current UFC Bantamweight Champion and the final WEC Bantamweight Champion.
Cruz holds a professional record of 17-1, with his only loss coming to Urijah Faber (at featherweight).
Cruz is set to defend his title against the winner of the Faber-Wineland fight, but you can be assured he wants Faber to win.
He wants to avenge his only career loss, and he'll get the opportunity should Faber be victorious.
Jose Aldo
4 of 10
Jose Aldo is the current UFC Featherweight Champion and the final WEC Featherweight Champion.
Aldo has a professional MMA record of 18-1, and is currently on an 11-fight winning streak.
Aldo was set to make his debut at UFC 125, but a back injury forced him out. He is now set to defend his title at UFC 129 against the next man on this list...
Mark Hominick
5 of 10
Mark Hominick is a UFC featherweight, and the current No. 1 contender to Jose Aldo's belt.
Hominick has a professional record of 20-8, and is currently on a five-fight winning streak.
Of Hominick's 20 wins, nine have come by way of (T)KO, and he believes his striking is at the same level, if not better than Aldo's.
This fight is set for UFC 129 as the co-main event, and it should be a slugfest.
Hatsu Hioki
6 of 10
Hatsu Hioki is a featherweight currently competing in Sengoku, where he is the featherweight champion. He is also the Shooto lightweight champion.
Hioki has a professional record of 23-4-2, and is ranked as the No. 2 featherweight in the world according to Sherdog.com
The UFC should sign him as soon as possible, as him and Aldo could put on one helluva fight.
Joseph Benavidez
7 of 10
Joseph Benavidez is a current UFC bantamweight.
Benavidez has a professional record of 13-2, and is the No. 2 ranked bantamweight in the world according to Sherdog.com
Benavidez is set to fight Ian Loveland at UFC 128 this Saturday.
Pretty epic picture, no?
Brian Bowles
8 of 10
Brian Bowles is the former WEC Bantamweight Champion and a current UFC bantamweight.
Bowles has a professional record of 9-1, and his only loss was a doctor stoppage due to a broken hand after the second round.
Bowles made his UFC debut at UFC Live: Sanchez vs Kampmann, where he choked out Damacio Page with a guillotine choke.
The weird part?
Same opponent, same technique, same time.
Miguel Torres
9 of 10
Miguel Torres is the former WEC Bantamweight Champion, and a current UFC bantamweight.
Torres has a professional record of 39-3 and is on a two-fight win streak.
He made his UFC debut at UFC 126 against Antonio Banuelos, and is set to fight again at UFC 130.
Chad Mendes
10 of 10
Chad Mendes is a current UFC featherweight.
Mendes has a professional record of 10-0, and his last fight was at UFC 126 against Michihiro Omigawa where he won by unanimous decision.
Look for Mendes to be huge in the featherweight division for years to come.
