TNA Debate: Christian Cage vs Kurt Angle; Who Made a Bigger Impact?
I recently wrote an article about Kurt Angle staying with TNA.
One of the comments that I received said that Kurt should go back to the company that made him famous just like Christian did.
This got me thinking about the two wrestlers and I asked myself who made a bigger Impact on TNA. Granted Angle is still there and Christian has been long gone for about two years. However, both men were high profile wrestlers when they jumped ship for WWE's competition.
When Christian left he was at the peak of his career. Fans were really pulling for him to get a title shot and didn't want to see him go. Months later, he debuted for TNA and had some serious buzz. The people were finally going to see their champion get the crown that he so rightfully deserved.
Sometime later, Christian found himself in the title hunt.
This time he would capture the gold as he battled at Against All Odds, beating then champion Jeff Jarrett. Christian went on to become a two-time champion.
One year passed and Kurt Angle asked for his WWE release. Sighting that the schedule was too much of a strain and he needed a break from wrestling.
Shortly after his release TNA was filled with rumors of a new signing making his debut. Then at TNA's pay-per-view No Surrender, Jim Cornette came out and introduced video footage of TNA's latest acquisition.
TNA fans anticipated Goldberg and were amazed to find that the "Olympic Gold Medalist" had made his way to TNA. Since his TNA debut, Angle has been somewhat of an ambassador for the fledgling company.
Not only has he put on several five-star matches, but he has helped put over guys like AJ, Anderson, Wolfe and Samoa Joe. Angle is a main event wrestler and can be the face of any company he works for. However, he also gets that he needs to put over younger talent in order for the business to survive.
Angle is a four-time world champ and held several other titles in TNA. However, it may be his ability to lead that sets him above Christian. Angle has been the face of several TNA factions and with the exception of the Main Event Mafia, these factions were usually made up of younger stars.
Personally, there is no doubt that Angle has a better legacy with the company. He really believes in the product, while Christian seemed to only come to TNA to become WHC. Not that I blame him for that. When opportunity knocks you have to answer, otherwise you may never know what could have been.
There is no doubt both men have a legacy with the company, but the question is; whose was better in TNA?
