UFC 127 Results: Dennis Siver Throws His Name into the Lightweight Title Mix
After his dismantling of George Sotiropoulos at UFC 127, Dennis Siver has done the unexpected and threw his name into the backed-up lightweight title mix.
He defeated Sotiropoulos by unanimous decision with judge scoring the fight a 29-28, 30-27 and a 30-28 victory for the fantastic German kickboxer.
Siver has now won seven of his last eight fights, winning six in the UFC.
Overall Siver has a 18-7 record in MMA and has now become an instant top fighter in the lightweight division.
Siver in the first round made sure he followed his gameplan of keeping the fight standing by tossing great combinations and great kicks that stunned Sotiropoulos the rest of the fight.
“It was a hard fight, but I could do my game plan, and that’s why I won,” said Siver after the fight.
After Siver dazed Sotiropoulos in the first round, each takedown attempt by Sotiropoulos was sloppy and easily stuffed by Siver.
Siver did everything to frustrate his Australian opponent and forced him to stand up, something you don't want to do with Siver.
Siver is well-known for his superior striking, especially his outstanding and amazing kickboxing skills.
Just to show you how great of a kickboxer Siver is, he's got a jaw-dropping kick that punishes his opponents bodies and sends them down for the count. Here is a video of his spinning back kicks that just decimates opponents.
Since his unanimous decision loss to Ross Pearson last March, Siver has pulled off three straight wins against the likes of Spencer Fisher (unanimous decision), Andre Winner (via submission) and now Sotiropoulos.
Now it seems Siver is a top lightweight in the UFC and could face off very soon against another top contender in line for the lightweight title.
After the way he looked tonight, it seems he could handle the likes of a Gray Maynard or handle the winner of the upcoming Clay Guida/Anthony Pettis fight.
But who knows what's next for Siver. Only time will tell.
He derailed a hype train tonight, now it's onwards for Siver.
