UFC: Top 25 Events Worth Owning on DVD

First LastJun 7, 2018

Having an entire catalog of the best fights can be a helpful way of introducing casual fans to the legendary fights that the UFC has produced over the last decade. It can also be a way for fans to look back on their favorite fighters and their greatest moments.

Purchasing UFC events on DVD may seem like a time consuming and bad way to spend a lot of money, but prices for them have recently been slashed down to as low as $5 at stores like FYE.

For this list, my focus will be on the top 25 events since UFC 43 that are worth owning. Most stores don't carry the shows before UFC 43, but they are available on EBAY.

No. 25 UFC 95/96

1 of 25

This is a double event DVD set, and it contains UFC 96 and 95.

Fights featured on UFC 96 include Quinton Jackson vs. Keith Jardine, Shane Carwin vs. Gabriel Gonzaga and Matt Hamill vs. Mark Munoz. The main event set up the megafight between Jackson and Rashad Evans. Revisit the intense staredown over and over again with this DVD.

UFC 95 featured bouts between Chael Sonnen and Demian Maia, Wilson Gouveia and Nate Marquardt and Joe Stevenson and Diego Sanchez. Plus, don't forget about the huge upset between Josh Koscheck and Paulo Thiago.

No. 24 UFC 107

Diego "Nightmare" Sanchez went into this event looking to take out the greatest lightweight ever, B.J. "The Prodigy" Penn. Sanchez was on a four-fight win streak going into this fight and Penn was coming off a victory over Kenny Florian.

In the co-main event, Frank Mir was returning after a devastating knockout loss against Brock Lesnar at UFC 100 and was looking to make a change in how he fights and trains. He bulked up to 265 pounds for this fight, and had no kind words for Cheick Kongo before they met. At the weigh-ins, which are included with most two-disc sets, Kongo turned his back to Mir during the staredown.

Other memorable bouts from this card include Kenny Florian vs. Clay Guida, Paul Buentello vs. Stefan Struve and Alan Belcher vs. Wilson Gouveia.

No. 23 UFC 82

3 of 25

Dan Henderson, Pride champion, met with Anderson 'The Spider" Silva, UFC champion, to unify the middleweight titles. Silva was 5-0 going into this fight while Henderson was coming off a loss to Quinton Jackson at UFC 75. It is arguably one of Silva's greatest fights, before his unimpressive string of title defenses occurred.

Other fights include Chris Leben vs. Alessio Sakara, Heath Herring vs. Cheick Kongo and Evan Tanner vs. Yushin Okami.

The undercard featured Josh Koscheck, Andrei Arlovski and Diego Sanchez.
