Strikeforce Fedor vs. Silva Results: Should Fedor Move to Light Heavyweight Now?
Another doctor stoppage ends another Fedor fight.
Fans in East Rutherford stood shocked tonight as they watched what was once the most revered fighter in MMA history get knocked around like a rag doll.
It's the best time for "The Last Emperor" to move down one division to light heavyweight. Fedor just seems overwhelmed by the monsters in the Strikeforce heavyweight division.
His fight against Antonio Silva proved he should move to light heavyweight. He would be fighting guys around his size and wouldn't be extremely dominated on the ground like he was.
It just seemed every time Silva brought Fedor down, he could move around at ease. Each time he switched control it was relatively easy for Silva.
Fedor is just too small and getting too old to hang with the heavyweights in whatever promotion he will fight for.
It just seems like wherever he would be, the heavyweights would be just too big for him.
Fedor was absolutely demolished in the second round after Silva shot for a takedown within the first few seconds of the round.
Even going into the fight, his height, reach and weight were a complete mismatch.
Fedor could easily make the move to light heavyweight and would have less competition in Strikeforce's light heavyweight division.
He doesn't seem like the fighter he used to be anymore. At times, he seemed out of it in the fight. He made a couple of mistakes, but he still got shots in on Silva in the first round.
Tonight proved one thing: Fedor's heavyweight days are over. They should be.
Although he has possible retirement on the brain, Fedor should consider the drop to light heavyweight. He can still fight—if he still has the will.
If Fedor is going to stay in MMA, there is only one thing for him to do: move to light heavyweight. He's just not the same heavyweight anymore.
