Strikeforce Fedor Vs. Silva: Live Play-By-Play and Results Slideshow Blog
The Strikeforce Heavyweight Grand Prix kicks off tonight with two quarterfinal fights. First, Andrei Arlovski will look to snap the only three fight losing streak of his career with a win over Sergei Kharitonov. Then, Fedor Emelianenko will attempt to avoid losing consecutive fights for the first time in his career as he faces Antonio Silva in the night's main event.
Also, six more heavyweights will fight in three reserve bouts to try to get the chance of a lifetime as an alternate fighter for this epic tournament. The winners of tonight's quarterfinal bouts will face off against the winners of the tournament's two remaining quarterfinals, which will take place in April 2011 with Strikeforce Heavyweight Champion Alistair Overeem attempting to avenge a previous loss to Fabricio Werdum and Josh Barnett meeting Brett Rogers.
Whatever you do, don't touch that dial. Bleacher Report will be bringing you up-to-the-minute play-by-play and results of the action from Strikeforce: Fedor Vs. Silva.

LaBerge landed knees from the clinch that caused Leone to lose blood for the remainder of the first round. Cholish stuffed a takedown attempt early in the second round and quickly ended up in Stevens' guard. After the referee stood the fighters up, Stevens looked to be finishing a takedown, but Cholish rolled through and finished the fight with an outstanding submission.
Valentijn Overeem Vs. Ray Sefo
2 of 6
Round 1
Valentijn Overeem comes out as the aggressor. Ray Sefo takes advantage and counters well, which prompts Overeem to take the fight to the ground with a double leg. Sefo is clearly at a disadvantage on the ground, and Overeem shows why with a neck crank that forces Sefo to submit.
Result: Overeem defeated Sefo by submission (Neck crank) at 1:37 of the first round.

Out of nowhere, Silva commits to a knee bar and then switches to a heel hook. The round ends with Emelianenko attempting a leg lock of his own.
Emelianenko's eye is swollen badly and closed, which forces an end to the fight.
Result: Silva defeated Emelianenko by technical knockout (Doctor's stoppage) at 5:00 of the second round.
What a night of fights this was. Only one fight on the entire card went to decision. That fight also was the only fight to even reach the third round.
Emelianenko loses for the second consecutive time. Should he retire? Does Emelianenko's elimination from the tournament ruin the Strikeforce Heavyweight Grand Prix in any way? Leave your comments below.
