2021 Mock Draft First Look: Because You Care About Fifth Grade Football Players
Let's be frank, this is completely fake. The kids names do not correspond to photos. I stress again THIS IS FAKE.
But in the spirit of all of those way-too-early mock drafts for 2012 and beyond, here's a look at the nation's top fifth grade talent. These players are in no particular order, but expect to see these kids somewhere near the top of the draft.
Jimmy Stevens
1 of 8
While Stevens' toughness is questioned (he recently cried after taking a tough hit), his athleticism at QB is the stuff of legends. Once he can throw the ball more than 20 yards down the field, he'll start climbing this board quickly.
Ja'Kobe James
2 of 8
Where would the Jets have been this year without Jakobe? James averages 6.5 yards a carry, and once his hands are big enough to properly grip the ball, look out.
Kyle Morgan
3 of 8
Morgan is a stud at tailback, but missed most of his fifth-grade year because he was grounded for breaking the window on his dad's car (he also plays a little QB, but his accuracy leaves a lot to be desired).
Alex O'Brien
4 of 8
Though his season ended with this painful interception, there is a lot of upside to the 4'8 fifth grader. He is undersized, but his understanding of the game is unequaled at this level. (Rumor has it that in his other sport, baseball, he even understands the infield fly rule!).
Jake Cohen
5 of 8
Cohen is a rare breed. He actually WANTS to make it to the NFL as a long snapper, and if he continues to develop his game, he may be the first long snapper taken in the first round of the draft.
Mark Smith
6 of 8
Mark leads his league in amount of times making quarterbacks cry. It's hard to say whether he's this good, or the blocking is that bad, but he averages a sack once every six snaps. That's pretty good numbers at any level.
De'Anthony Anderson
7 of 8
He's huge, he's fast, and the only question as to his NFL readiness is whether he'll play tight end, fullback or halfback. But he'll be there.
Jaquan Power
8 of 8
Little Mikey Brown (with the ball) has no clue what is about to happen, but he's about to meet big number 12. The aptly named Power figures to be a defensive stud in 2021.
