Projecting Every NFL Team's Starting Lineup 🔮

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Mickey and the crew will have to wait. The NFL’s championship belt may need to make a detour to the Gresch Center in Green Bay, Wisconsin where World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) is filming its weekly SmackDown sideshow on Tuesday. The people’s champ of the NFL has the belt, the Lombardi and now he can take a swipe at The Miz in the squared circle. At the very least, Rodgers cracking some B-list wrestler in the back with a folding chair is must-see-television.
Rodgers, and the MASH unit known as the 2010 Packers, joined three other Green Bay Super Bowl squads with their 31-25 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers. Using our NFL simulation engine we wanted to see how these Super Bowl champs would fare against the franchise’s other three championship rosters.
Along with the 2010 Packers, we simulated the 1966, 1967 and 1996 teams head-to-head 1,001 times.
| 1996 Green Bay Packers | 70 | 20.0 | 14.3 |
| 2010 Green Bay Packers | 48 | 16.5 | 17.2 |
| 1967 Green Bay Packers | 42 | 15.2 | 17.8 |
| 1966 Green Bay Packers | 40 | 14.9 | 17.3 |
Brett Favre was, at one time, just a quarterback for the Packers. His 1996 season included him passing for nearly nearly 3900 yards, 39 touchdowns and only 13 interceptions en route to the Packers Super Bowl win over the New England Patriots. Even more remarkable is the team defense, anchored by Reggie White, which locked down opposing offenses to a meager 253 total yards and 13.1 points per game.
Green Bay’s mid-1960s dominance may not be reflected in this simulation, but only because the statistical make-up of the Packers has evolved along with the game. Favre and Rodgers produced mind-boggling numbers when compared to Bart Starr and company. For those who preach “defense wins championship” and think the Pack’s 1966 and 1967 defense is getting slighted, you could argue the 1996 and 2010 units were statistically similar.
We also simulated the 2010 Green Bay Packers against the other 44 Super Bowl champions to see where they rank all time. Using our NFL Simulation engine, we created a round-robin tournament where each team played the other 251 times to generate each teams winning percentage and average score. Unlike a year ago when the New Orleans Saints tallied 25.6 points per game, the 2010 Packers could only muster 18.6 ppg. But thanks to a defense that only allowed 18.1 ppg., Green Bay won 51.1 percent of games played to rank 25th among Super Bowl champions.
