Farmers Field: 10 Reasons To Be Excited For NFL In Los Angeles
With Tuesday's news that AEG and Farmers Insurance have reached a deal involving naming rights for a proposed NFL stadium in Los Angeles, it means we are one step closer to having football in Hollywood.
The deal between AEG and Farmers Insurance is worth $700 million over 30 years. Backers of the plan say the the stadium will be built in downtown Los Angeles, next to the Staples Center. Staples Center is also owned by AEG.
With this news, it's time to look ahead. Let's examine 10 reasons why people should be excited for the NFL in Los Angeles.
10. Hollywood Stars On The 50-Yard Line

It seems that every time the Lakers are on national television, which is often, every moment the ball isn't is play is spent on scanning the crowd and showing the audience which celebrity is attending the game.
There are mainstays like Jack Nicholson, George Lopez and Dustin Hoffman, but a wide array of celebrities could be in attendance on any given night. When they are, the camera is sure to find them.
Who is at the game is almost as big of a spectacle as the actual games in Los Angeles, and I find it very entertaining.
Here's to hoping that if and when the NFL moves to Hollywood, the franchise will find a way to sign Lamar Odom away from the Lakers, so Khloe Kardashian will always be in attendance.
9. It Would Tick Off Al Davis

Even at age 81, Al Davis loves to make headlines.
This is a man who once sued the NFL claiming that the Raiders had exclusive rights to the Los Angeles market. Davis lost the case, which wasn't exactly shocking.
Still, with San Diego and San Francisco as competition, the Raiders are probably the most popular team in California. Even in their worst years, their fanbase was known for their loyalty.
But with a team in Los Angeles, the focus would move away from the Raiders, and that would infuriate Davis.
And who doesn't like to see Davis upset?
8. A Hollywood Super Bowl

You think this years Super Bowl taking place in "Jerry's World" is big?
Just imagine Super Bowl week taking place in Hollywood, where athletes would be mingling with celebrities throughout the city.
Then on game day, Los Angeles would boast a state-of-the-art stadium of their own. Weather would also not be a concern like it will be come 2014 when the Super Bowl takes place in New York.
Everybody wins.
7. Attendance Will Never Be a Question

Attendance across the NFL was was down for a fourth straight year this past season, with several teams blacked out locally after failing to sell out their games.
Selling out a stadium in Los Angeles would not be an issue.
After being deprived of the NFL for 16 years, people are itching for the NFL to return to Hollywood, and they wouldn't pass up the opportunity.
6. Rivalries
5 of 10
One of sports best rivalries exists between the Boston Celtics and the Lakers.
With football in L.A., the two cities could move their rivalry to the football field as well. Tom Brady visiting Hollywood just seems right.
Not to mention the rivalries that will develop between the team from Los Angeles and the Raiders or even the 49ers. Football may be down in the NFC and AFC West, but at least it would be interesting.
5. With The NFL Could Come The Final Four

When speaking about the new stadium, many people are quick to point out all of the other events the new venue could host. The most common event they speak of is the Final Four.
The stadium will have a retractable roof, so it will have everything it needs to host college basketball's biggest event.
And L.A. is no stranger to hosting big events, so you know they will put on a good show.
Football and March Madness are possibly the two best things on this planet, so I am in favor already.
4. Boost To The LA Economy

In addition to the stadium, AEG is also planning on building a hotel and remodeling their convention center in the same complex.
Not only would all three venues create more job opportunities, but they could also host more events, and is an additional site for tourists to attend and stay.
Even though Los Angeles has the second largest market in the country, its economy could still use the help.
3. End to The Speculation

If you are a fan of the Vikings, Jaguars, Bills or a few other teams, it will be a relief when this whole situation reaches a conclusion.
Unless of course you lose your team to LA.
It still has yet to be decided which team, if any, would move to Hollywood. There are a number of teams that could relocate, or an expansion team could be put there.
Either way, I'm sure fans are tired of hearing about their beloved teams leaving town. Once this is over, most everyone will be able to breathe easy.
2. One More Place Where The Sun Usually Shines
9 of 10
Is it just me, or did weather impact games this season more than ever before?
From the Metrodome collapsing to the Eagles-Vikings game being postponed, snow seemed to be a factor every week. There is no denying that weather sometimes affects the outcome of a game.
This wouldn't be much of an issue in Los Angeles, where the sun is a permanent fixture.
This must sound very appealing to players who play in, say, Buffalo.
1. Because Los Angeles Should Have a Team

Let's face it: LA has it all.
They have the glitz and glamour, they have the celebrities and they have the ability to put on a show.
All they need now is a NFL team.
