Richard Schaefer: Bradley vs. Maidana Unlikely, Alexander vs. Maidana Possible
In May of 2010, Marcos Maidana and Timothy Bradley were preparing for their scheduled fight. Both fighters seemed eager and impatient to get inside the ring and show the world their potential.
But the fight never took place.
Maidana had earlier suffered a back injury, and stated that the cause for his unfortunate withdrawal was this very same injury, which had not fully healed at the time.
A fight between Timothy Bradley (27-0-0) and Marcos Maidana (29-2-0) in the near future would make the most sense. Both fighters come forward with bad intentions, and both have unquestionable heart and determination.
Bradley, an unbeaten 27-year-old champion, known for his awkward defensive and offensive style, is capable of coming forward and making his opposition work all night long. Recently unifying light welterweight titles against Devon Alexander, Bradley is a perfect opponent for someone like Marcos Maidana.
Marcos Maidana, also a 27-year-old professional with a mind blowing knockout rate of 87.1 percent, could be just the right person to face Timothy Bradley. Maidana is known for his relentless unstoppable offensive determination, and his absolute knockout power.
Bradley would have to be very careful when approaching Maidana in the ring, as any punch from Maidana can prove to be nothing short of devastating. After his recent loss to Amir Khan, Maidana is not only hungry for a good fight, but is starving for a shot at a championship.
I believe their fight would be very entertaining, with action-packed rounds and someone likely hitting the canvas.
Unfortunately, Richard Schaefer had different plans: "Another fight we would like to do, which really excites me, is whoever ends up on the short end [between Alexander and Bradley] would fight Marcos Maidana. I think Timothy Bradley is a fantastic fighter, and Devon Alexander is an amazing fighter. They're all great, and so is Marcos Maidana." – Quote Link
A fight between Maidana and Devon Alexander also has potential, but as far as the entertainment factor goes, Bradley vs. Maidana would be a whole different ball-game.
What do you guys think?
