Caleb Hanie: See the Bears Backup as a Star at Colorado State
Caleb Hanie was thrust into the spotlight on Sunday when both Jay Cutler and Todd Collins went down with injuries.
The Bears were down to the Green Bay Packers, and then Hanie stepped in and almost led Chicago to tie the game before an late interception doomed the Bears' chances of making the comeback.
Hanie went to school at Colorado State, and we're taking a quick look back at his tenure there with some highlights and an extra surprise at the end.
What do you think Caleb Hanie's future is in the NFL?
Going Deep
1 of 3Not many quarterbacks out of Colorado State make it to the NFL unless they really have the skills.
Caleb Hanie shows why he made it to the next level on this play here when he unleashes an utter bomb down the field on the money for a touchdown. Sure, it was in a blowout, but he was facing Cal, not exactly an opponent that Colorado State usually faces.
The touch on the pass is just amazing.
Using His Legs
2 of 3Caleb Hanie may have a big arm, but he's more than that.
As you can see here, Hanie uses his legs to find the end zone, and he does it while breaking a tackle and eluding some defenders to cross the goal line and send the home crowd into a frenzy.
He's not a bad runner and certainly can move the pocket with that speed and make plays when things break down.
It's an impressive play, to say the least.
Just for Fun

The fans are trying to joke around with Hanie as he's signing autographs, and they keep asking him about Jay Cutler and if Hanie thinks that he should be the starter instead of Cutler. To Hanie's credit, he plays along, and it makes for a funny moment.
Little did he know he'd be taking over for Cutler in the NFC title game.
