Jan. 17: (No. 4) Pittsburgh 74, (No. 3) Syracuse 66
Jan. 22: (No. 11) Texas 74, (No. 2) Kansas 63
Jan. 22: (No. 7) Villanova 83, (No. 3) Syracuse 72
Now tonight...No sooner had Pitt been ranked No. 2, but then they lost at home to Notre Dame, 56-51.
Who will be the next highly ranked team to go down?
A quick look at the schedule shows that the top five teams in the rankings all have hazardous games away from home coming up this week.
Undefeated No. 1 Ohio State plays in a dangerous game at Purdue tomorrow night. Upset possibility? Yes.
Pitt already lost, so...
No. 3 Duke hosts Boston College on Thursday and then plays at St. John's on Sunday. Two dicey games, for sure.
Undefeated No. 4 San Diego State, the new kid on the national scene, goes up against Jimmer Fredette and the BYU Cougars in Provo on Wednesday. It doesn't get any more risky than that for the Aztecs.
And Kemba Walker and No. 5 Connecticut go to Milwaukee to take on Marquette on Tuesday night, and then come home to take on No. 19 Louisville on Saturday.
By week's end, the two remaining undefeated teams (Ohio State and San Diego State) could post an "L" on their records.
Duke and UConn will have to bring their A-game to win both or either of their upcoming contests.
Don't you just love college basketball?
And it's not even March yet!
