Patriots vs. Jets: The Jets Deserve No Respect

Tony SantorsaJan 10, 2011

NOTE: This article was first seen at PatriotsPlus.net.

I don't know about anyone else, but I am so sick of hearing about the New York Football Jets.

This team is all hype and hasn't had a dominant season in my lifetime, so why should they even be relevant?

As we approach one of the biggest playoff matchups off all time this Sunday with the New England Patriots against the New York Jets, no one should believe the hype that's revolving around the Jets.

While the Jets have been coached under Rex Ryan, they have been in the playoffs. However, the past two years, they have just backed into the playoffs.

This year, they lost the week they clinched, and last year, they were practically gift-wrapped a ticket to the playoffs.

Sure, they took advantage of it last year, going to the AFC title game, however, any team can win on any given Sunday.

This team is all hype, it's disgusting. Rex Ryan dubbed this team the self-proclaimed Super Bowl favorites earlier this year, but what have they done to live up to it?

Ryan has been making such a big deal that he went into Indianapolis and beat Peyton Manning and the Colts. But, look it up online, Indy has been known to crumble in the playoffs. So, big deal.

All hype.

It's just that no one in the New York Jets organization knows when to shut their mouth; all they do is talk and talk.

But hey, talk is cheap.

All of this talk is led by their head coach Rex Ryan. What a great way to lead by example.

Ryan held his Monday morning press conference and discussed the matchup this weekend, and described it as "Bill Belichick versus Rex Ryan."

It is. Bill Belichick is going to shut him up and bury the New York Jets.

Ryan also went onto to say, "He’s going to get everything I have on Sunday. If he slips at all, we’re going to beat him."

Let's be realistic here, when has Belichick slipped?

He hardly does.

As Ryan runs his mouth, his players make some idiotic remarks as well.

After defeating the New York Jets, receiver Braylon Edwards had a few comments.

"I remember what happened [Dec. 6 in a 45-3 Patriots win] but at the end of the day we know we're better than them."

Are you kidding me? How are you better than a team that absolutely manhandled you by 42 points? That is just unreal.

Enough is enough. The hype ends here, and it's going to end in New England.

The Jets should get no respect than any other playoff opponent. They're nothing special.

This is the team that virtually collapsed after the Patriots destroyed them back on Dec. 6, and has had their coach questioning his quarterback Mark Sanchez's performance.

Even Sanchez has been feeling sorry for himself in press conferences.

The Jets will lose, and everyone will realize why this team is nothing but hype.

The New York Jets deserve no respect.
