Mike Swick NOT Fighting David Mitchell at Fight for the Troops

Unfortunately, Mike Swick will not be returning to the UFC at the January 29 Fight for the Troops event.

The Ultimate Fighter season one alumnus confirmed via his Facebook page that Mitchell has backed out of the fight due to an injury, and due to an esophageal condition that Swick has been battling throughout this entire training camp, the Quick one and his camp have opted to put the fight off altogether.

A veteran of the WEC and a longtime favorite for fans of the UFC's Welterweight division, Swick's most recent bout came at UFC 105 in a No. 1 contender's bout against Dan Hardy.

The bout would have been to decide the then-next challenger to Georges St-Pierre—a bout that was very quickly set for UFC 111 in New Jersey.

The fight with Mitchell, who is predominantly a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu ace and holds most of his career wins in the submission department, would have marked the first fight Swick has had in over a year since the unanimous decision loss to Hardy.

A timetable for the returns of Swick and Mitchell have yet to be determined or publicly announced by any sort of medical staff or UFC officials.

This, the second UFC Fight for the Troops in the company's history, is to be headlined by a potentially explosive lightweight battle between Melvin Guillard and Evan Dunham.

Also featured on this card are the likes of Pat Barry, Cole Miller, Mark Hominick, Matt Mitrione and others.

This event live from Fort Hood in Killeen, Texas is one Fight Night that is sure to be a night of potential barnburners all throughout.
