NFL: Catastrophes That Made This Season As Crazy As a Reality Show

Billy LockhartJun 7, 2018

NFL fans have gone through an emotional roller coaster this year. The high points were high so high that some lucky fans were able to envision a championship run for their team.

On the other side of things, the low points brought the wrath of the media in full force.

These turbulent times have caused many fans and casual observers to wonder why? While unable to put a thumb on why, I was able to think of what made this season so crazy.

Loss of Home Field Advantage

On the morning of Sunday, Dec. 12, we woke up to a massive storm, which robbed the Vikings of their home field advantage.

I originally thought it was God’s way of trying to extend Brett Favre's games started streak, but that did not pan out.

Instead, we got a team without a home struggling with their fragile identity.  To sum it up, the team transformed into a homeless bunch of awkward teenagers, Eli Manning looks the part, but sorry wrong team.

The Haynesworth Effect

Did the star defensive player show up to work late and overweight? Did he lose interest almost before starting to work?

I can’t lie; I have been guilty of all of the above.

Forget sexting beautiful reporters, can you picture this person doing something similar on the subway?

I think I can he gives off a "creepy old man" vibe. All that is missing is the strong smell of urine and cigarettes.

A Rolling Stone Gathers No MOSS

Randy Moss was on the move this year. Moving from a good situation, to an okay situation until ultimately finding his career one step away from retirement.

"If you can’t beat em, trip em."

This should have been what Jets coach Sal Alosi should have said to explain his actions.

To his credit, this shows how far he was willing to go to get a win for his team, unfortunately it did not work out the way he planned.

A train wreck nobody wanted to watch. I bet some of the buffalo area high schools could have done just as well.

This would be much more fun to talk about if it dealt with Julian Assange, and his team of super hackers hidden in their mountain data fortress.

Instead, it was the Broncos videotaping a San Francisco 49ers walk-through in Week 8 at London’s Wembley Stadium.

Since they broke rule No. 1 (do not get caught) they deserve the penalty in my book.

This pair is much more dynamic on their respective reality shows and the talk show they host together.

On the field, it is not much of a show at all really. I do not think there has been one Sharpie or Sombrero used all year.

I was expecting a fiesta of epic proportions; what we got is just sad.

Andre Johnson Vs. Cortland Finnegan

It was your classic MMA ground-and-pound match.

After two rounds (plays), Johnson emerged as the clear victor, so much so Finnegan applauded Johnson’s dominance.

I cannot wait until the re-match!
