Shane Mosley Is Wrong Opponent for Manny Pacquiao

Shane Mosley is the wrong opponent for Manny Pacquiao in their May 7 fight.  That wasn't my opinion.  Those were the opinions of other boxing fans.

My opinion is that Pacquiao was marching to the beat of his manipulative promoter, Bob Arum.

I thought the champs chose who they wanted to fight if they kept winning and if they didn't have to face a mandatory defense of their belts.  In this case, a promoter who is as sneaky as Arum seems to control the purse strings of all his fighters.

Pacquiao earned a reported $25 million for his fight against Antonio Margarito, which translated to about $208,333 a round.  He might get less money for fighting a guy old enough to be his uncle.

I'd like to see Pacquiao retire than take on a BS fight against Mosley.

We talk about Floyd Mayweather ducking all the time.  Who is Pacquiao running from?  Let me guess, Juan Manuel Marquez?  Andre Berto?  Arum said that Mosley is the most accomplished boxer in the field of candidates.

You could argue that Mosley's time has passed.  There should be no issue of testing for drugs.  Mosley admitted taking performance-enhancing drugs in the past.  Pacquaio is accused of taking drugs in his fights, but no one can prove that he took drugs.

The fight against Mosley is as safe as you can get.  Their fight is like Duke playing Sister's of the Poor in college basketball.  The game is one-sided, because Pacquiao should win easily.

Mosley, who looked a little tipsy one night, mouthed off to a TMZ reporter on the street several years ago on his desire to fight Pacquiao.  He got his wish, and he will regret that he wanted to step to the No. 1 pound-for-pound fighter.

The Pac Man told a Philipine newspaper that he needs eight weeks to train for Mosley because he believes that will be a difficult fight.  It won't.  Ask Mayweather how hard it was to fight Mosley.  If Mosley laid down for Mayweather, then he'll lay down for Pacquiao.

Mosley, to me, will come into the fight with Pacquiao as damaged goods.  Maybe he feels that he needs to put in a few more fights to collect his boxing pension and social security benefits at the same time.

This fight is truly a slap in the face for boxing.  I see the pay-per-view numbers very low for this laughter.
