A Eulogy From The Miami Heat's Lebron James: Rest in Peace Cleveland Cavs

Ronnie HampstonDec 3, 2010

When the NBA schedules were announced, every fan around the world had Dec. 2 circled on their calendars. From the day LeBron James announced his decision to leave Cleveland for Miami, many wondered when he would make his return to Northeast Ohio.

The Cavaliers fans had every right to be upset about "The Decision.' The burning of the jerseys and the harsh T-shirts were expected after the King left Cleveland. LeBron should have handled the free agency process better.

As of July 1, 2010, LeBron James did not play for a basketball team. The term "free agent" allows players to go whatever team in the NBA.

After "The Decision," Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert issued a letter to the Cavaliers fans that took several jabs at LeBron James. The letter was the icing on the cake to the burning of the jerseys and all of the belligerent comments by fans and Cavs brass.

James announced his decision this past July, and the game was not played until December. This was more like a funeral rather than a basketball game. The Cleveland Cavaliers officially died on July 8, 2010 with the departure of LeBron James.

Yesterday's game showed why LeBron left Cleveland. Heartless teammates and inconsistent play were evident during yesterday's game.

The Cavaliers players acted like teenage girls at a Justin Beiber concert as LeBron strutted up and down Quicken Loans Arena hitting shot after shot. There was not a time when LeBron was fouled hard. If Charles Oakley played for the Cavaliers, it would have been a different story.

The Cavs let down their hostile fans by praising and pacifying King James.

Owner Dan Gilbert probably showered himself in cognac after the game as he realizes what his team once was. The Cavs roster probably couldn't beat the Phoenix Mercury on their bad day. The death of the Cavaliers was in full effect.

The great philosopher Niccolo Machiavelli supposedly faked his death hundreds of years ago. From the looks of the game yesterday there is no faking the death of the Cavaliers.

Things are only going to get worse. If LeBron, who is from nearby Akron, doesn't want to stay there, what makes it relevant for anyone else to play there?

Since loyalty is so important, maybe Drew Carey can save the organization.

This funeral was filled to the brim with 20,000 angry fans. Signs, chants and flying batteries did not stop LeBron on the task of getting the victory. This game was set up for LeBron to fail, but he answered the call.

The Heat are an underwhelming 12-8, but this may be a stepping stone for the Heat. As for the Cavs, this is the beginning of life after death.
