Lana Lawless Forces Change In LPGA By-Laws
Lana Lawless has forced the LPGA to change its by-laws.
The tour's membership voted on Tuesday to do away with its "female at birth" clause and has opened the door for transgender membership.
No surprise there. It was coming. The Tour is simply following the lead of the International Olympic Committee and the European Ladies Tour. The LPGA board of directors recommended the change prior to the vote of its members at the Hyatt Grand Cypress.
Lawless, a former policeman who underwent transgender reassignment surgery, is now welcome to go ahead and give the LPGA Tour School a shot. Now it remains to be seen if the 57-year-old golfer will do just that.
Good luck. It's a little late in life to be undertaking such nonsense, but perhaps the former beat cop will give it a go.
Sure, Julie Inkster is still at the top of her game at age 50, but she's been good for a long, long time. As for Lawless, "she" says she'll continue with the lawsuit filed a couple of months ago that is seeking damages from the LPGA Tour and the Long Drive tour.
Damages? How would one go about proving what one might have done? This oughta be a doozie.
Now the LPGA can just sit back and see if Lana can manage the tour school.
If "she" can earn her playing privileges, then by all means, tee it up.
