English Premier League: Sunday Matches Previews: Nov 28, 2010
Tottenham vs Liverpool
Once again, the instrumental Van de Vaart is not going to be available due to injury, and Tottenham will also be missing Jermaine Jenas. The home side's injuries have been well documented so far this season, with Tottenham fans now talking of title hopes after booing their team off the pitch only a few weeks ago.
Tottenham's Champions League performances have been pretty decent, and making it into the last 16 is something to be very proud of, considering that nobody expected them to do quite so well. Traditionally, Tottenham have been the whipping boys in this fixture and Liverpool have won about half of them, with Spurs taking far less than this.
The Merseysiders have the return of Joe Cole to look forward to, but then there is the fact that Gerrard is still not ready to return. In their last match, they did have a pretty impressive win against West Ham, although this was their last win in three games, and there's also the fact that their competition is a lot more stiff this time round, considering that Tottenham are not at the bottom of the table.

Newcastle vs Chelsea
Colocinni and Williamson are both absent, leaving Newcastle’s defence a little bit lacking. With both of their regular centre backs missing, this could cause some serious problems against the Chelsea forwards, who are well known for punishing even the slightest of mistakes. Newcastle will also be missing Joey Barton, who will be serving the last match of his ban. Generally speaking, this fixture has been pretty balanced in the past and Newcastle aren’t looking much like a newly promoted side.
The problem is that Chelsea are still a cut above in terms of the quality of players, and even with the home field advantage, they are going to seriously struggle to pick up any points.
Terry, Lampard and Essien are still missing, although Alex is finally ready to return to the side, which will make for some good news for Chelsea. The Blues have lost three of their last four matches, which is something of a dire run considering the fact they’re supposed to be a team which was tipped to win the Premiership. The problem that Chelsea have had has been at the back. They should have a good chance at actually win this match, although it will be a little harder to call considering their recent performances.
