Missouri Tigers: What Bowl Game Will Blaine Gabbert and His Team End Up In?
Blaine Gabbert and the Missouri Tigers are 9-2 heading into this weekend's Border War game with their hated rivals, the Kansas Jayhawks.
The Jayhawks are 3-8, but that won't matter heading into this heated rivalry.
A lot rides on this game for the Tigers, as it will likely seal their bowl game destiny.
With Oklahoma State at 6-1 in the Big 12, while Nebraska, Missouri, Texas A&M and Oklahoma are all 5-2, Mizzou could finish anywhere from first to fifth in the conference.
Here, we'll take a look at five bowl games the Tigers could end up in.
5. Fiesta Bowl (BCS Vs. BCS)
1 of 5
This is a long shot, but it is not impossible to think that the Tigers could earn a BCS berth.
If the Tigers beat Kansas on Saturday and Colorado upsets Nebraska, Mizzou would win the Big 12 North.
Then, they'd have to beat the winner of the Big 12 South in the title game.
It's unlikely, but it could happen.
4. Holiday Bowl (Big 12 No. 5 Vs. Pac-10 No. 4)
2 of 5
I don't think the Tigers will finish as low as fifth in the conference, but it could happen if they lose to the Jayhawks on Saturday.
If that's the case, and Texas A&M beats Texas, then the Tigers would likely be heading to the Holiday Bowl to take on a team like Arizona.
3. Cotton Bowl (Big 12 No. 2 Vs. SEC)
3 of 5
If Mizzou beats Kansas and Nebraska loses to Colorado, then the Tigers will be in the Big 12 Championship Game.
Then, if they were to lose to either Oklahoma or Oklahoma State in that game, they would be heading to the Cotton Bowl.
The Tigers have some experience with the Cotton Bowl, where they beat Arkansas 38-7 at the end of the 2007-08 season.
They could have a rematch with the Razorbacks if they get back to that bowl.
2. Insight Bowl (Big 12 No. 4 Vs. Big Ten No. 4)
4 of 5
This could happen if Missouri beats Kansas, Texas A&M beats Texas and Nebraska beats Colorado, but Oklahoma State loses to Oklahoma.
That would vault the Sooners into the championship game and drop the Tigers to fourth place in the Big 12.
If that happens, the Tigers will take on the fourth place team in the Big Ten, which will likely be Iowa.
1. Alamo Bowl (Big 12 No. 3 Vs. Pac-10 No. 3)
5 of 5
The Tigers will most likely beat the Jayhawks, Nebraska will beat Colorado, Texas A&M will beat Texas and Oklahoma State will beat Oklahoma.
That would send the Cowboys and Cornhuskers to the championship game.
Then, the Tigers would be left as the No. 3 team in the conference, sending them to the Alamo Bowl.
Mizzou beat Northwestern 30-23 in overtime of the 2008-09 Alamo Bowl.
This year, they'd most likely play Oregon State or Arizona in the Alamo Bowl.
