Fantasy Football NFL Week 12: Start Shaun Hill, Sit Josh Freeman
Sit Brett Favre.
Is that too obvious?
Start Peyton Manning.
Still too obvious? Ok, fine, I'll give some real fantasy advice.
Be careful with how you use it though. I normally nail one position and then miss the rest.
My advice last week netted -8 points, bringing my season total to -15 points.
But, I take pride in the fact that I predicted Michael Vick's huge day (see my Week 10 advice).
So, I'll try to predict the next huge fantasy day now. Here we go.
QBs: Start Shaun Hill
1 of 8
The New England Patriots have the 31st ranked pass defense in the NFL, allowing just under 290 yards per game.
When Shaun Hill and the Detroit Lions play host to the Pats on Thanksgiving, I expect the Hill to Calvin Johnson connection to be in full effect.
I would write about starting Calvin Johnson, but that's a given. If you aren't starting Johnson, you shouldn't be playing fantasy football.
The Patriots will take a huge lead, forcing the Lions to pass for a majority of the game. So, Hill should be your starter this week if you don't have a top-tier option.
QBs: Sit Josh Freeman
2 of 8
The Buccaneers are 7-3 in large part because of Josh Freeman. But, he'll face one of the toughest tests of his career this week when the Bucs travel to Baltimore to take on the Ravens.
When the Bucs played the Steelers earlier this year, Freeman had his worst game of the year, throwing for less than 200 yards, no touchdowns and one interception.
Look for him to post a similar performance this week.
RBs: Start Rashard Mendenhall
3 of 8
Mendenhall needs a good bounce back game after having posted less than 10 points in his last two games.
Who better to bounce back against than the Buffalo Bills, the team with the worst run defense in the National Football League?
Speaking of the Buffalo Bills...
RBs: Sit Fred Jackson
4 of 8
Fred Jackson has scored 50 points in his last two games combined. But those games were against the Detroit Lions and the Cincinnati Bengals.
Prior to his last two games, he hadn't posted a single double digit fantasy day all year.
This week, he'll be facing the toughest defense in the NFL, so he'll have his work cut out for him. He'll probably go back to single digit points this week.
WRs: Start Dwayne Bowe
5 of 8
The Seattle Seahawks have allowed 43 passes of 20 or more yards this season. That plays right into Dwayne Bowe's hands (literally).
Bowe has scored 52 fantasy points total in his last two games. Look for his hot streak to continue this week.
WRs: Sit Miles Austin
6 of 8
If you haven't noticed yet, Dez Bryant is the only Cowboys' receiver worth having on your roster for the rest of this season.
Miles Austin has been struggling all year, and last week, he posted one of the flukiest fantasy football stat lines of the year: 2 catches, 7 yards, 2 touchdowns.
Don't look for him to score two touchdowns in a game for the rest of this season, especially not this week against a tough New Orleans Saints pass defense.
TEs: Start Vernon Davis
7 of 8
The Arizona Cardinals have also allowed 43 pass plays of 20+ yards.
Look for Troy Smith and Vernon Davis to bounce back this week after being shut out against Tampa Bay last weekend.
TEs: Sit Brent Celek
8 of 8
Brent Celek hasn't scored a fantasy point since Michael Vick returned from injury.
The only two weeks where he was relevant came when Kevin Kolb was the starter.
For some reason, Vick just never looks Celek's way. So, if you haven't already, it's probably time to get rid of Brent Celek.
